What's the skinny on 424?

I like my 2444. It's the larger brother of the 424, that's built with the contractor in mind. That little critter is tank tough for what it is. Haven't looked much into parts, but I have seen aftermarket engine kits for both diesel & gas. Seem to be some parts machines out there, so that helps. My only criticism of it at this time is the brakes are woefully insufficient. Might be because it has an extra bit of weight hanging on it.

Handiest little tractor I've had to date, that easily payed for itself in the first year.

I see 444 come up once in awhile, one listed as available for parts in Arkansas if ya need something

Thanks! I am looking for a 3pt setup for it, but would hate to see what shipping would be from Arkansas. Not out of the question if it gets down to it.

We had one at my Mothers farm. It was bought new and replaced the 300U and was used mostly for pasture clipping. With a Woods C80 mower it was fine in light grasses but in heavy stuff the 300 had more power. It was a good tractor, I don't think it ever needed anything major in about 2500 hrs.

Is that a 6 foot cut?

I think it has the 6' bar. Could be 5'. That tractor in the second picture even has a 2050 loader. I haven't seen that model before until I got mine.

12 volt negative ground?

Yes. I have one with a freeman trip loader. 20200223_153117.thumb.jpg.36a6b56d8018fe1b5e810c6ade53f0b7.jpgI'm pretty happy with it. The brakes aren't great, the hydraulic steering is nice. It's a nice little tractor. I'm told some engine parts are getting hard to find but I haven't needed any yet.
