billonthefarm
Factory IH deluxe cab, Hiniker or Year A Round? I prefer the IH factory cab! But I have fixed up a couple of the others and they aren’t bad. On a cold day they all beat a heat houser!

ny bill o
I'll take either the Y-A-R or the Hiniker over the "deluxe" cab. You can't see out of the latter in close work, and it is hard to get into with the factory steps. I'd even take the IH diamond cab over the deluxe.
billonthefarm
I do not like the factory steps! Poor design. K&M has the fix for that.
885
I prefer no cab, just canopy. But I don't live in the bitter cold like a lot of you guys.

I welded a used 16 inch plow lay to each step. Weld the top of the lay upside down to the step and if the lay isn't wore down to far there is a little bit of a lip for grip. Pete1468
Buddy of mine called the ih cabs church cabs. When I asked the obvious dumb question he responded. Yeah they're just like going to church, up the stairs, turn sideways to get between the pews and then sit down.

Steve C.
I've run a 1066 with a factory red cab, and a 1456 with a Hiniker 1300 on it. I agree with NY Bill, the Hiniker wins in the visibility category. I think the red cab on the 10 was a little tighter, but it was newer too. I'd probably pick the Hiniker, but the YAR looks to be almost identical. Is it?
1256pickett
I don’t have a lot of seat time in any thing other than 56 and 88 series but I’ve had enough to know hands down hinkiker on 66 series, factory cabs on rest. Although on 56&66 fenders are great if it ain’t too dusty or too cold.

The YAR hinges at the top. I have several with Y-A-R cabs, and had a White 2-105 with a Hiniker. As brewcrew said, the side windows hinge differently. The other difference I noticed was the weight of the doors. When it came time for the Annual Removal of the Doors Ritual, the Hiniker doors weighed noticeably more than the Y-A-R. The 1456 has a Hinson, which is quite different from the others. It is cantilivered off the rear axle; has no front attachment. I have accumulated and assembled several different cabs over 40 years of farming. 1466 even had a deluxe IH cab when I bought it. Cab is now sitting in the weeds. Sorry about Wrigley, Bill.

As long as the AC worked I much preferred the deluxe cab. I side raked 100's of acres with the 1066 and diamond cab. Being able to prop the doors open and open the back window you could get a nice breeze and usually stay pretty cool. But cultivating with the 1066 was better as I could sit in the AC and didn't have the dust. When I was quite young Dad had a 706 with a Year Around cab but I don't really have any experience with the that. I just remember riding in it. iowaboy1965
Like VT said I'll take any over none. I don't like the cold or wind and like shade in summer. Growing up we had an xt 190 with must have been a hinkiker cab as windows swung open from the back and let air in pretty good. Dad traded it off and got another with a factory 200 cab on it that windows swung from the top and didn't open as far. Always thought that tractor was a lot hotter to run in the summer. Never been around a factory ih cab but if I keeps the wind off I'm happy. Heat houser is better than nothing but not as good as a cab. And open station is ok on a really nice day, but my definition of a nice day has narrowed up some over the years. 😄😄
Cummings1486
I always preferred the year around. Had lots more room in it compared to the deluxe cab. The hiniker and year a rounds were pretty much the same as others have said with the exception of the hinges on the windows and the high/low light brackets on the front cab top corners. Ran a 1066 one time with a deluxe cab and did not care for it. We put this one on the 1256 in the 70s. Use to have a heat houser for it and the cab sure beat it. Although any cab or heat houser that keeps the wind off of you on a cold day is better than nothing.

Well we always called the red factory cab with the AC condenser hanging over the back "dog house" But they were better than nothing. One thing it had one of the best AC's i was ever around.
