twood1954
After much discussion it was determined that either the tractor or the driver had to go on diet so would have more front-end weight. It seemed easier for the tractor to lose weight. New cage should be 100 lbs. lighter. Gun drilling axles and drilled brake rotors should lose over 250 lbs. Sorry for pictures being sideways. I can't seem to get the right way.

twood1954
dom chrome moly was over $17 per foot if you can find it. Should still be over 100 lbs. ligther than old cage and in my opinon much stronger.

Allen - do you have a tractor with 56 series sheetmetal on it? Was watching YouTube Rockford IA. Curious where the sheetmetal came from

Allen Ulmer
Looks good! Getting weight off of cast tractors is a huge undertaking! We had a 706 rear with 3 chargers, 10 ply 30.5 puller tires, etc down to 5100 with no driver! They have k a huge amount of hours (500+) to get it that light!
twood1954
The tractor should weight around 5200 lbs. when done. Hoping to have 750 lbs. of moveable weight. Now need to have driver lose some weight.
DT Fan
Used to work with a gentleman at Maytag that raced sprint cars. He drilled every bolt in the machine to save weight. Pretty cagey, looked like he was working, you know, for the company. he did tell me that drilling bolts in the lathe for 8 hours did get tedious! Iowaboy will know exactly who I speak of.
