They sure don't look like that now. The old Dodge pickup is rusted out in spots inside and the one fiberglass fender on truck bed is held on with medal straps and bolts. Both trucks has oil leaks { I just keep adding oil and run em} so I think {MAYBE?????} they fit the beater part.
hardtail
I had an 80 Chev shortbox fleetside and the outside had been redone and was nice but the interior was roached so I bought a 77 off my buddy that was cancer central with welded bumpers but the interior parts were cherry for the swap, ended up being much cheaper BUT I drove that beater for a few months and whenever I parked somewhere I would come back and have clear spaces all around, guess everyone else thought if owner took so little pride in their vehicle they didn't want to risk being next to it, kind of the opposite of the guy with the nice car parks 2 blocks away and comes back to guys surrounding it😊
Sledgehammer
Two I have had. They are both gone now. First was a 79’ F-250 snow plow special with 15K original on the ticker. 4.10 gears, C6, NP205. I added the camper shell, wheels, tires, and grille guard. Second was a 91 F250 with an idi 7.3 that my neighbor ran into with a grain cart and sold me cheap. I replaced grille with one from a 1700 loadstar and added a rough cut oak flat bed and some super swampers before taking it rock crawling in eastern TN. The stack barking and rain flap standing straight up let everyone know to get out of the way. She did pretty well for having a welded rear diff and stock suspension. Just gotta know when to send it 😁
Missouri Mule
My 91 chevy. This thing belongs in a commercial. I've beat on this thing and beat on it, and it loves it. 350 TBI, 4L80E trans, 4.10 gears. Cheap to operate, except for the transmission I grenaded a couple years ago. I hardly think it was not from the 3000 rpm neutral drop with 2 bales on in the mud stuck?? Guy says to me at the shop he had never seen a transmission so tore up in his 30 years. Lol Funny thing was it drove home and the next day wouldn't move, the bearings were apart and it ate the seals out, so I dumped so ATF in it and it drove itself on/off the trailer to trans shop. The drivers side door is about to fall off, been through 20 sets of bushings and I'm sick so sick of changing them I slam it like I'm pi$$ed off every time. Pass door panels MIA, 3500 helper springs on rear bow over backwards with 2 silage bales. Currently it needs a driver and gas station (s) The other one is a 2000 chevy WT with a utility box. I picked it up from a neighbor for $1000 and keep all my tools in it for around the farm. Very handy truck.
hardtail
I'm starting to think my good trucks look worse than your beaters🤔 1

That is where you put those little cold and wet fellers I had a customer years ago that would take out some silage to the pasture in the bed of his pickup no big deal He came in after a few buckets of Hytran that I carried out for him. Chain and binder holding the bedsides together and a barn door latch holding the driver door shut The best part was the cow manure on top of the cab, two of his bulls had climbed in the bed while he was checking cows to gather up the remaining silage 😀

That was the nail in the coffin for the 94 GMC I had before I bought the 93. The 94 barely made it home from feeding but still pulled some dummy out of the ditch 30 minutes later. It was just in such terrible shape I scrapped it
Loadstar
I would not call mine a beater but its definitely old having just turned 40 years old. I've owned this Sierra Classic since 1986. It mostly rests in the winter now as I don't want the salt to eat it up any worse. It gets the job done all the rest of the year though. That Olds engine just won't quit. Had one rebuild on the transmission. Not sure on the mileage as it has turned over a time or two. Just a great truck to drive.
billonthefarm
I just picked up this old truck up. Not really a beater. Not a show truck either. Gonna be a run around truck. It’s just like the truck dad had. First truck I drove. 1976 K20 Custom deluxe in Crimson Red. Vin says it had a 400 small block but now has a 350 and a automatic. Bought it off the original owner. 70,000 miles. Far from perfect but I am having fun! 18

I would let Wes go with just a warning....as for Seth ....well what more can one say Wi ih needs some serious counselling...for calling his trucks ''beaters '' MTB98 is also guilty of handling the truth carelessly...but will be let off with a warning.....as for oleman....I well recall his historic and memorable treatise directed at the famous "Ford ' marque....as I recall he wanted to do a complete hysterectomy on that Ford truck.....and I think to bring him into line...swapping my 1988 Datsun pickup, white, with blue smoke...for his Suburban...that would certainly give him another perspective on life in America As for you, Jake.....abject envy is a terrible thing .........and I just love those American trucks.... Mike......the bloody rice burner kid The Vega and the Pinto were the reason I started driving rice burners in '75. The tinny little Datsun I bought was built like a fine watch compared to the Detroit competition.

acem
These are some trucks we use. The first is the brown truck, yes it is Grey primer now but it's still the brown truck. 91 D250 12V cummins auto 3.0 rear end. 600,000+ miles. I drive it daily. Runs great but it needs some love. Pickups get loose after a half a million miles. Kinda like a French whore. But she pulled our sailboat to the Florida keys several years ago. Next is my wife's cow checking 93 jeep Cherokee. 4 cylinder, 5 speed 4x4. It will go almost anywhere and my wife thrashes it. It's a real beater! Next is felicia, a 91 D350 12v cummins 5 speed. She is used around the farm some but not as much since my wife smacked it with her jeep... she is a beater. Next is the fire truck. A 78 F300 400? Auto with 78,000 miles. She is a tight truck but burns too much gas. I need to find a home for her. Last is 'slick' seen in kansas with my friend Devin. 93 12v cummins auto. I bought her a few years ago and she is a nice truck with less than 300,000 miles. She has made 5 trips to Houston this year because of my sister... Thx-Ace 6
TractormanMike.mb
This is mine, a 94 half ton that I bought for $100. I originally had intentions of fixing it up and driving it but then I found the snow plow and decided that I needed a plow truck more than I needed another project.

Ian Beale
I agree with Mike - too much shiny paint to be considered beaters here. When we took over this place there was a Toyota FJ 55 wagon. And a wagon on a ranch is about as useful as a hip pocket on your underwear (IMO). The mechanicals were sound but it had been beached and the body - well the tin ants were barely holding hands. So I found a flatbed cab, chassis and tray that started life as a 3-speed in the 1960's, set them up side by side and transferred. With a master parts manual as a lot of things weren't the same. Made a "wool industry special" - 2 into 1 that worked at minimal cost - the wool industry was well in the doldrums at that stage. It did about 25 years as the main ranch work vehicle but is somewhat retired now.

For those reasons it best I not post pictures of our beaters 😂 Tarp straps work pretty good to hold the doors closed on a 88-94 Chevy too Here's a picture of my current beater, or farm truck, way before it became a beater. It's waiting it's turn to get in to the shop and get fixed back up. Only goes forward right now and I would like to be able to get rid of the ratchet strap holding the box and tailgate together lol
ny bill o
no pics, but in the early- mid 80s, I had a 1974 Dodge followed by a 1973 Dodge, both club cabs, both had boxes that waved at the people as we drove by.
