Tractor of the week # 38 1466

INTERNATIONAL 1466

Recommended Posts

While I have enjoyed putting up the tractor of the week, this will be my last one. As many of you know the 1466 is my favorite model. We own and have owned several of these amazing machines over the years. How about it, how many more of y'all have 1466's? Here are some of ours over the years.

Don't have any color pictures of the 1466 we used to have. But there is this newspaper article of my Great Grandparents posing on it in 1984. We got the tractor off of him when he quit farming after the 1993 growing season. Ran it til 2007, than sold it

Ive enjoyed "tractor of the week" posts. Thanks for doing that every week. I don't know for sure but I think the 66 series is pretty repected by any IH fan.

I have a 766 966 and 1066. I would like a 1466 to help round out the series. As far as an all around chore tractor what else starts and runs every day of the year better?

Yes Bitty, 16.5Lx16.1's, and the one with front fenders are 14L's. The one with the 16.5's is the first 1466 I bought. It is my all time favorite and my baby. Her name is Bobbi Ann.🙂

Here’s a 1466 or two with a 66 series dump as well. I’ve really enjoyed this series of threads.

This is serial # 7103.  It is the 3rd 1466 ever built.  It has some unique things about it.  It is in the shop getting some work so we can put it thru it’s paces this spring then begin restoration.

What seems like only a few years ago, auction sales with 1466's . A  lot of 14's did not bring top dollar as they were thought to be too big. Many times a tractor smaller brought 3-4k or more. My brother had a 14 that dropped the anti freeze in the oil. After the engine was redone and used for 2 more years he sold a nice tractor that brought 3 k less than the 1066 that sold after it. This was repeated over and over many times at sales for a while. Now try to find a 14 let alone a nice one. How times have changed.

No.  He thought I should have it but I have no idea what I would do with it.  It’s 12-30.

This is my uncle’s blackstripe , only had it for 10 years or so - planted beans with it up until this spring when the MX200 took over. AC works , good running tractor.

If I may - I would propose that someone else take over running tractor of the week as it seems many of us enjoy the threads.

I would be happy to but if anyone else would like to feel free to speak up !

my 1466. It came into the county consignment auction, from a dealer, the night before the auction. Needed a front main seal and new clutch. Came with the IH Stupid Cab. It was cheap, and I didn't have one, so....

I was so mad at myself for buying it, that it sat in the gravel pit for 3 months before I did anything with it. Took off the cab. Fixed main seal and clutch. Replaced a rim, new Firestones, rebuilt the steering, took out the PTO on the corn chopper and had it rebuilt, and added the ROPS and fenders. It was putting out 190 hp by the dealer's dyno. It has been a real horse.
