Proud parent farming moments

All of our kids help on the farm, but the oldest son is getting old enough at 10 to handle a few tractor jobs on his own. He got to rake some hay this summer on the C but I didnt get any pics of that. We just finished up plowing and he got to make four or five rounds with me in the buddy seat. He was actually a little overwhelmed but settled in quickly. He actually got the hang of leveling the plow quite quickly.

That is so awesome. Pretty sure he is enjoying it. I have grandchildren now who can't wait to get in the cab now. Looks like a dusting of snow on the ground so the heater must be working good. Enjoy your young ones, they sure grow up fast

don't farm here but boys were always a big help to me.

Chance moving tractor between stackyards.

Not sure of his age but pretty sure he still had his milk teeth😁

Maybe not a proud parent moment, but when I was probably 5 (wasn't in school yet) I spent a summer afternoon with dad grinding ear corn for the cattle. I remember it as if it was yesterday. A Bearcat stationary grinder, M tractor, we were shoveling corn out of the east half of the crib, the north door. I remember it as keeping up with him shovel for shovel. (in reality it was probably 5 of his and 1 of mine). When we were done we went to the country store and he bought me a popcicle for a penny. I remember him telling the woman who owned the store that I shoveled corn all afternoon. I'll remember that day until I die. Sad thing is, I never told him how much that day meant to me.

My boys have done so many things and achieved so much I wouldn't know where to start. But am proud of them every day.

I like his T shirt!

His mama is all over that kind of thing. He is pretty concious of his IH and CaseIH clothes. He almost got into a fight with a "green" kid over his CaseIH backpack mama got him. Had a little heart to heart about the green kid only being jealous that the red paint shines better when its polished up😁

He almost freaked out at first but settled right into it and had fun. The field has a couple of plugged tile, waiting for them to get fixed so I needed some frost to get traction. Got frost the night before and then it started snowing in the morning and we got a wet 1" through the day.  Thankfully it kept pulling good all day and i finished.

Turns out the heater is a little excessive in that tractor. It's a 245 magnum and the heater valve under the seat went bad and is stuck wide open, so I just turn the fan on every 3 or 4 rounds for half a round. It's on the list for the spring parts sale.

If they have interest you need to have faith in them and turn them loose. But if the interest is not there expecting to much to soon will only turn them farther from wanting to hang around. Good to see the ones that want to help getting confidence boost by dad telling how much help he will be.

Not enough farm to keep the family here but my boys did about everything I did. They received a work ethic that will carry them through.

The oldest is a manager for a very busy privately owned body shop. when the owner found out he was a farm kid he told him" you work for me now if you will take the job."

The youngest is a territory rep for a pharma company dealing strictly with beef needs

My daughter is an account supervisor for an image building or brand recognition service to wine and spirits companies.

So farm kids out doing, working and learning can never be replaced even if they can't stay on the farm

That's funny I had my daughter drive me in our side by side last night to the top of the road and back to pickup trash cans for the first time. She did pretty good actually at 7. Dad always said when I was a kid give him the keys and give him 5 minutes and he will run It. He wasnt far off.

My 9 year old got quite a bit of time in ripping this fall. After the first couple days I just started disking close by so she could talk to me on the radio
