just Dave
My wife has said the day that will live in infamy at least a dozen times so far today. Both her's and my Dad served in WWII.
hobbyfarm
I was reading something that said prior to the attack many of our soldiers didn't believe Japan or their men were a serious threat or even a threat at all. This was conjecture between young boys/men. Boy where they wrong.
nepoweshiekfarmalls
My favorite local Country music station mentioned 3 times from 7:15 to 8:00 AM that today was national letter writing day. No mention of Pearl Harbor. Is it taboo to talk about it now, or is the radio host too young to remember the significance? Sad.😔

oleman
I have been the Inport OOD on several occasions in Perl Harbor on the O800 to 1200 Watch within view of the memorial while in the USN. Wars and sacrifice should always be remembered.

BrodyNC
I was bored sitting in second period at school and it dawned on me what today was. Not a mention that today is the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor from any teachers or classmates today. I talked with two friends about it after school. I remember about 6-8th grade on Pearl Harbor, 9/11, Memorial Day, and others we skipped daily lessons and talked about these events and there impacts. Now I’m in the 12th grade and every year it has seemed I hear about these historical days less and less.

1256pickett
At work this morning I realized what day it was at least I thought. I thought I’ll look at the calendar on my phone to be sure. But no mention of it there. It’s got 20+ holidays I can’t even pronounce much less care about but they really left this out?! This afternoon I did hear one am radio station talking about it for a minute or two but then I lost the signal.

searcyfarms
my mom was born today, in 1941 so i think about it every year, my great uncle served in WWII he was on the USS Kitkun Bay (CVE-71) they were hit by a suicide plane and also by bombs that didnt explode which is crazy to me they almost had to abandon ship he told me but they made it thru and fought as much as they could to support on the way to get repairs. it was an aircraft carrier but not a huge one like some others he said they had planes on the ship, they had quite a few hurt/killed cant remember numbers i am sure there is some crew list somewhere online that you could find him on or maybe pay for it, but its pretty cool that I got to talk to him about it, wish i would have asked more, he got a lil serious when I asked a couple times so didnt ask more. I was young but could tell it was a touchy subject. these were my family - my gma was audra - best gma ever!!! and yes he was my grt uncle but my dad was an only child so they were all close to me for that reason they all called him Kit, and yes their mom my grt gma was minnie pearl!! - well not that one with the hat and the price tag but still.........kinda fun

Delta Dirt
Thanks for acknowledging Pearl Harbor Day TwoStep. I had read a couple of posts relating to it-------thought I had paid tribute. My emoticon selection recently changed-------can no longer find a hand salute, thumbs up, nor Anerican flag. So here is a big wave of all three in honor of Pearl Harbor and our WWII vets. Thanks DD

Mr. Plow
Read a book "Resurrection" on the salvage of the Pearl Harbor fleet. Very detailed, enlightening, and dry......but that effort is a huge and untold part of both the Pearl Harbor disaster and the desperate attempts to get the fleet back in the war. Some very intelligent people did a lot of work to salvage what they could......
