Can you imagine your neighbor driving past as you pull into the field with a shiny new 4156 back in the day? The coffee shop guys would have had something to talk about for sure. It was parked at the edge of a field next to a field we cut. Been fascinated with them ever since. It was a red one didn’t know they came yelllow for a few years later. Did I say I want one? At least I think it was a 56. @Steve C.may know for sure what it was. Darren had a 4166 for a while. He told me it was a clumsy brute. I always thought I'd like to run one, but it might have gotten old fast. stronger800 Posted November 22, 2021 Share Posted November 22, 2021 Look at that elusive nose weight under mount bracket setup in his first pic. My grandfather and his brothers had a 4166. Think it only had 1500-2k hours on it when they retired 20 years ago. Used for pulling a corn chopper during a wet fall was it. Grandfather use to tell a story of how he sort of lost the tandem axles out from under a chopper box in the mud one year. He was old enough he didn’t look back much. Helper pointed out that there were four wheels missing when it was time to swap wagons. Probably only an 18’ wagon, but I’m sure it was full. They would look better with 28lx26 rice and cane! Thx-Ace 2+2 is a much nicer tractor to operate. We have 3788 and 4166 so not quite a equal comparison. We did pull the same implements with both, and the 4166 never really struggled, it just did it slower. And a couple of our hills it was a bit short on traction compared to the 2+2. I’ve never seen one. 4100s on the other hand were somewhat popular around here. My uncle had one. Know were there are 3 or 4 more and seen about that many more at auctions. Was there no red 4156? I'm fairly certain a guy not far away from here had one. I know most were yellow but I always recall his being red. Unless it was repainted?
