So a tiny update. My sister, as of this morning, is on her way up from her home in Georgia to stay with/help mom indefinitely. Quit her part time job and left this morning to drive up with her husband and oldest daughter.

It will be a big relief for mom to have her here. I know she worries about me taking time off work to help her. Tho I tell her it's not a problem, and it's usually not. Tho I am reaching the end of my vacation time for the year. (It renews in march)

Typing this brings up something I hadn't thought of to now is that I should get fmla set up in case I would need it.....

Mri this coming Tuesday but her spine specialist appointment moved back to Dec 7th I think.

The only potential problem I see is sister is bringing her 2 inside dogs, bulldog and I'm not sure the other Tho I thought it was a lab or lab mix. Back story on this is mom NEVER allowed or would even consider inside pets when we were kids. Tho her adopted stray Tom cat Buddy has wormed his way into the basement the last couple years(she still won't allow him upstairs for more than a few min). He thinks he runs the house and is terribly spoiled. He has gone so far as to attack and run off other stray cats in the yard. Not sure how this is gonna go with the 2 dogs.  Hope all involved can adjust and get along 😬

Sister isn't leaving them home as her husband is a pilot and often gone for long periods of time.

Guess this turned into a long update, sorry guys. Kinda my morning therapy typing this down...

Hopefully the joy of seeing her will overcome any obstacles that brings with it and it is a huge help and support for both you and your mom, continued prayers 🙏

So a lil update. After a few rough spots with pets and people adjusting to the situation things have settled down a bit.

Mom and sis went specialist today, I wasn't able to go.

Sounds like starting with pain meds and therapy for 2 reasons. Dr not sure where and which nerve is pinched or causing the problem. Also to satisfy ins requirements? Dr also suprised both legs not bothering her.

This didn't last long. Mom sent this pic the other day then a short time later a message that said pet peace didn't last. Sis had to take bully (as mom calls the dog that messes with her cat) upstairs. Bully aka Piper is the Airedale? The actual bulldog is Georgia.  They are both actually pretty good dogs. Mom just likes to grumble about them 😄

So in messaging my sister it's a bit more serious than I thought.....

Multiple possible places pinching nerves. Almost entire lower back has issues.

Sounds like surgery probable at some point. Struggling at the moment with the magnitude and implications of it for mom. Hopefully all will go well and they can get her some quality of life back.

my prayers added.  sounds like a great family pulling together, and that's a big positive to exist in the situation.  being cared about is a big deal to anyone, especially a mom.

So I don't think I have kept up to date real well but for those wondering the struggle is ongoing. Pain clinic appointment for mom the 12th of Jan I think. The prescription med to help deal with the pain didn't work out for more than a couple weeks. She had a reaction (swelling in one leg) got her weaned off but then told her all other meds in same class most likely give her same reaction. So back to ibuprofen and some herbal stuff. She refuses anything habit forming. I can tell she is more uncomfortable again.

Sisters husband and 2 girls flew in for Christmas,  unfortunately they picked up a bug on the way and this morning mom told me not to come over as she is now coughing a bit and has scratchy throat. I hope it isn't anything too serious. And hope it doesn't cause her to miss her first appointment at pain clinic.
