Front Suitcase Weights

The IH weights are pretty general throughout the IH tractors, up to the late 50 series, where they had a styling change on the weights. On my 1206, I have four 100 lb. suitcase weights on the front. I also have three sets of 150lb one piece rear wheel weighs, plus a set of M&W dual hubs on the back. I don't carry anything on the three point, so I'm not worried about the front end being too light. It does get a little tough to steer when I have the duals on it, but I just use the brakes.

Depends on if you are doing three point or draw bar work. Dad had 10 75 pound weights on the 1256, but it was mainly a drawbar tractor. I pulled a mounted Anhydrous applicator a lot with my 1206 and had ten of the 100 pounders on it most of the time.

when i pulled a 4 bottom 140 spinner plow in alfalfa ground with my 1066 or 1086 i put on from 12 to 16 weights. i had a piece of metal that went thru the handles that held 2 more weights on each side. that kept the front on the ground running in L 3 TA back

The 1206 came with a ten weight bracket. The 06-56 series weights are specific to those tractors on looks only. If you are followed by the correct police there is only one style that is "correct". If you need I have the serial numbers on weights in storage.

I am getting a Farmall 1206 and want to put suitcase weights on the front.

Are IH suitcase weights universal for all tractors? Approximately how many are required for a 1206 and should 100 pound weights or 75 pound weights be used.

Thanks,

Bill Carlton

Bill here are the IH part # for five different suit case weights that IH made. There could be more but I only know of five.

90# 71200201 with large handle hole and angle iron slot to secure

90# 383393R2 with small handle " "

90# 383393R1 with small handle hole without angle iron slot

100# 148347C1 with Large handle hole and angle iron slot to secure

75# 383392R1 with small handle hole without angle iron slot.

The correct one for the 1206 is 383393R1 but they will all fit your weight bracket. The correct suit case weight for the 1206 required a seperate bolt for each weight to hold it secure to the weight rack. If your bouncing around the field you will want them secured.

Hope this gives you a little insight on suit case weights.

383393R2 (90#) or 383392R2 (75#) ether one of these weights were available on the 56 series tractors
