Ihfarms
The original muffler on my 966 finally gave way after being patched up a couple of times and the generic Stanley is worse than having nothing at all it seems, I called the local caseih dealer and inquired about a new oem. Though very expensive I was willing to break down until he told me that it was merely a Stanley in an CNH box. Would it be a better grade of Stanley coming from oem or just the same as one from A&i? If it’s just the same does anyone have suggestions on a good replacement muffler? I have a nice original for an 826 but I hate to cut it up. Thank you very much for replies and suggestions! 606 diesel
Thomure manufacturing makes high quality mufflers if I remember right. Stanleys a stanley no matter where its from.

Sledgehammer
Last muffler I ordered from Thomure was a Stanley. He knows his stuff but the only reason I ordered was to not get a Stanley. Be sure and ask what the maker is when ordering.

In fact I even had a conversation about cheap aftermarket mufflers with him and he never mentioned one thing about the Stanley. I opened it up and about cried. Put it in the tractor and smoke leaks out of the upper crimp knurling. I put a call in to him letting him know I was very disappointed. His answer was for me to take it to a muffler shop and have them weld it up, and he would send me $25 towards the repair. I told him I didn't want to stare at a bunch of weld on a new muffler much less repaint it. I just lived with it. So yes, you are correct. Ask him first, hes not a bad guy and he can't control junk. I only wish I had asked him point blank what I was buying.

todd.crow
I really hate to say it, but when we installed the DT414 into our IH 766 this spring, I called Thomure also to get the muffler, knowing that I would probably be getting a Stanley. I didn't think that I could get anything else. After we got it installed, we couldn't even get it tight on the turbo outlet pipe. It just flopped around. I called my CIH dealer, and one of their stores had a muffler in stock, and were willing to transfer it to my local store and I was free to take it or not. Turned out to be not a Stanley! 🙂 If we couldn't get a non Stanley, I was going to put a straight pipe on it cause I couldn't stand to look at that muffler.
hagan
had this on my 806 for a while till i got burn spots on it. Ordered off of ebay in the early 2000's paid $70 for it has the IH part number and the flat bottom. It is very rarely used on the tractor. jeeper61
I tried not to get a Stanley after seeing this thread. The muffler on the tractor had been brazed on the bottom crimp all ready and rattled as well. I found a listing for a Walker and ordered it when I got it and took it out of the box it was stamped Stanley. So far its working ok but I have only run it a couple hours
INTERNATIONAL 1466
Turbo and a chrome pipe is the answer.🙂
Absent Minded Farmer
Doesn't Nelson still make mufflers? When I was working at an International truck dealership, I ordered one for my H & was happy with how quiet it was vs the fits-all muffler though CaseIH at the time. cedar farm
Nelson will work with you to build them. A guy over on the Allis forum has had Nelson make a number of different ones for A/C's. I ordered one from him for my D17 series 3(oval) It was perfect and had the correct sound. Not the sound of two cats fitting in a garbage can like a stanely. Wasn't cheap. Who cares it correct. Straanger
Simply filter .com seems to have a lot of Nelson mufflers. Not the easiest sight to figure out, but might be worth a look.

Like getting seals or engine parts from CNH and it says Reliance on it. Keep it, I won't use it.

The least Walker could do is have Stanley stamp Walker on the muffler
