K&M Air ride seat in a 5288

I would like to hear from anyone that has put a K&M air ride suspension seat in their 5*88 series tractors to replace the leaking hydraulic seat.  How did you cap the hydraulic lines?  Which model seat did you use?  did you have to do any modifications to get it to bolt up?  Was it worth the $1200?

Thanks in advance

our 5088 has a bostrum air ride in it, i didnt put it in but someone did and I sure wouldnt trade it for a hydraulic one, i am not sure who they capped the lines, never paid any attention but air ride is the way to go for sure

You should get caps for the lines if you order the correct bracket for an 88 application. I think the seat part number I got last spring was 6975. But I could be wrong. I dont remember the bracket part number. You have to take the floor up slightly under the seat to get the back bolts out of the original suspension and in the new one. Unless you're wheels are set out wide.

Is it worth 1200 bucks? I guess I think it is. Its way cheaper than a new tractor, and they are a very comfortable seat.  I changed mine because I was redoing the interior and I didnt want that hydraulic one to spring a leak. Plus I don't think the original seats are as comfy as an air seat

I've done a few and as someone told me on here don't cap the lines take them completely off and cap where they come off. After that all you'll need is to find a 12v power  and ground and your done, to me taking the old seat out was the worst part just because it feels like they weigh a ton

I want to follow up on this topic.  I have removed the old seat and all hardware.  Used about 3 cans of degreaser to get the floor cleaned as well as scraping up the thick gunk with a putty knife.  Yes that seat hardware is heavy!!   I pulled the floor plate, removed the hydraulic hoses and capped the lines coming out of the top transmission.  1/2" (I think) JIC #6 cap. Also you need to cap the little 1/8 rubber hose that allows the oil to seep back from the top of the original seat cylinder.  I just screwed a bolt into it and put a hose clamp on it under the cab.  I have ordered a K&M 1004 mechanical suspension fabric seat for about $900.00.  I will post an update when it comes in and I get it installed.

sounds like you got it whipped i forgot about that small hose and i capped it off the same way, now if you ever have any problems losing odd or even gears those two switches with the wires coming out of the top to the right of the bottom cap you put on our the first place to check

Very nice, does this have for and aft or just lateral movement?  What part number did you order?

Definitely buy the caps and take the time to pull the floor. The 5488 I purchased they left the hose on with a cap. Well eventually that hose wears a hole in it sitting on top of hot steel lines and then leaks 20-30 gal of hytran out while driving down a dusty road and you don’t notice it until the steer starts not working. 😡 the caps are way cheaper than the hytran. Don’t ask me how I know.

It was part number 8267.  I was wrong about the lateral, it actually has fore/aft(my mistake).

I also see that now it’s available in red vinyl too
