Buddy's low hour 1 owner 1466 just bought

Recommended Posts

Buddy just bought this 2700 original hour 1466. Was bought new and the owner said if it wasn't working it was in the shed. Working ac , original interior looks like new yet, hydraulic seat. Even the leveling screws on the 3 point turn easy. Owner said they never used the pto ever and didn't do many acres. He wanted a 1466 for years but was holding out for this one. Will get tires and a polish and set to 30 in rows. Also 20.8 38s.Screenshot_20210920-124111_Messages.thumb.jpg.72e9b4ad01aaf4e5e0ae0f5aa767ac0a.jpgScreenshot_20210920-124123_Messages.thumb.jpg.4acd12e17883f6f820213a933116162b.jpgScreenshot_20210920-124214_Messages.thumb.jpg.f6a08596d3ac2844aeace19c1f1f96ca.jpgScreenshot_20210920-124250_Messages.thumb.jpg.90945bdba27e62c26b9c8330544dd427.jpg

Won’t get down thirty inch rows with 20.8’s very easy.

Just get em in close for doing stuf like stalk chopping and moving wagons and what not

I thought that they were 1000 RPM only from the factory.  Makes the tractor more practical with dual speed PTO but hurts with the correct police at a show.

Many dealers and customers that ordered these new ordered them without a pto at all and added the dual speed at the dealership, or they simply switched them out with another tractor.

Kind of like most people have never seen a 2-pt fast hitch on an 86 series...well, some guys weren't going to replace all of their machinery when they bought a new 86 series, so they simply swapped the 2-pt off the tractor they traded in and had it installed on the new 86 series.

X2.   The "Correct police" need to go take a chill pill on this one, because many 1466/86 tracgtors were bought brand new with the dual speed PTO....it was just assembled at the dealer, not at the factory.

I thought the 1566/1586 were 1,000 only and the 1466/1486 had the dual speed PTO.

Very nice looking tractor.  For that condition I assume it was a premium price.

The 1978 Buyer's Guide shows on the brief spec page the 1486 having only 1000 RPM PTO.  The dual speed PTO only going up to the 1086.

I dont think anyone shuns a 12 or bigger for having a 540/1000 pto added. Its neat and interesting to see a larger tractor with PTO delete or 1000 pto still. Ive swapped many out. But how they come in now is how they stay. Super sharp 1466. Will clean up well. Id be proud of it.

I didn't know there were  red cab models that had louvered side panels, not bashing it, just an observation. She's  a beauty for sure.

Yep...those side panels were still louvered in '74 and '75 and had red cabs before the black stripes came out in late '75...

Looks clean. The hand grabs and seat shield were added but they look right in there. Too bad the dash covers around the gauges and shifter boot is gone. But its making me wonder if cab was added on. Red cab 66s had all black levers. Would explain a few other things too.

Good call, it was a factory cab and fender  delete and they added a cab right away when it was new yet
