Bought a few red toys this summer

Just for fun I thought I’d share some nice IH originals I have found over the last few months. I enjoy finding nice ones like these.

The 1976 1586 came from Kentucky, the 1972 966 Hydro came from South Dakota, the plow I found at a local thrift store, and the feed mixer came from Iowa earlier this month. I had been looking for a nice one since May.

My dad had the same plow when he was a kid and still had it but it was missing a spring can luck had me end up with this one😀

Don't have any of my original ones but when you get to be an antique like me you try to buy things you had to make you feel young again. When I was young I had the same 966 and plow combo. The 1586 I had later and bought with my own money.

I had that feed grinder as a kid. It’s still around. Here are my additions from this summer. These belonged to my Dad. I’m not sure why an Oliver because we had no dealer close but my Grandma tied those duals on for me some time around 1989 I think because a tillage tractor had to have duals to a 6 year old me. 😊

I have several toys from when I was little. In fact I have a 756 (second from left) that I took with me to my college dorm now sitting on my desk. Ive had it since my first Christmas in 2001 when I was 9 months old. Interesting thing is my dad got a 1456 for Christmas in 1971…. 30 years earlier which was his second Christmas.

Cool pics. I have that same version of the 1586, with duals, still in pristine condition, and when they still put the decal stripes on the cab doors. At some point, they went el-cheapo and stopped putting duals on the 1586 and stopped putting the stripe decals on the cab doors.

My brother has that 966 Hydro, but he beat the crap out of it, but he still has it, lol. He also use to have that 4 bottom plow, but he wrecked that and it got thrown out long ago. Nice pics, thanks.

I still have all mine. Three different scales are represented within my collection. Predominantly red with some other colors thrown in. Most of the 1/16 stuff is packed up in plastic tubs & going to be sent off to Vinnies or Good Will when I get the chance. The rest is boxed up. My small collection of 1/32 Britains tractors & equipment are also packed away. Most of the 1/64 is on display. I can get pictures later. Oh, there are three or four SMTA's & an original CC in 1/87.

  • 4 weeks later...

Got almost all of mine somewhere. As well as some I later bought that had some significance to me. Either we had the real thing when I was a kid or I wished we did.

Back in my day...................................

😳  🙄  😁

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Most of mine that I know of got passed to nieces, nephews, neighbor kids who needed or wanted them.

My boys got ahold of some and used them well.

All metal and rubber they served their purpose for many years.

No trailer queens, a lot like my tractors I use now.

I do think it is neat that some of you were able to keep yours, good memories.

I have a large collection of farm toys, 1/16, 1/32, 1/64. Have been collecting for many years. Tend to lean more towards 1/64 and 1/32 now as easier to display. Mostly only buy high detail pieces and custom pieces these days.

here is a question for you guys with large collections, do you have them insured? If so how did you do so?
