My wife finally got her ideas together and we went tonight to order her a DORF Bronco this afternoon...............Well, of-course they have no idea as to the time frame as to when, but I asked the saleman who was not on the job very long about whether the back log was from covid, he said, "Well, a few things, Covid, Lack of Workers, computer chips, and the other issue"...............I am like, "What issue?".................He said that DORF engineers didn't get the dimensions right for the hard top for the 2 door Bronco, the outside supplier made a bunch, and they don't fit and they have no idea on when that will be corrected.  I thought to myself this is starting out well..............Anyhow, can anyone verify this?  I find it hard to believe that ball getting dropped that bad.

I've heard something very similar from multiple sources but it being a genuine verifiable source.  No.

Did some hunting and did find stuff via google, but nothing about the dimensions being wrong...............All were poor quality from the supplier?

SON'S 12,000 mile 2021 Ford Explorer ST with 3.5L 400 hp Ecoboost engine got a complete new warranty replacement engine, something to do with the variable valve timing mechanism that's been a recurring problem, when started cold it sounded like a 4 BT Cummins till it got up to operating temp.  ANYHOW, He had a brand new Bronco Sport for two+ weeks as a loaner.  He took my old F-250 out of semi-retirement a couple days to drive to/from work and leave the new free loaner sit.

Son's '18 Mustang GT with the 5.0L V8 had all kinds of little knocks and rattles when started cold too,  think it had around 40,000 miles,  some of those were very hard miles.  He did get a new 6-speed Gertrag trans in the Mustang, the synchro for 2nd gear just failed, maybe it was 3rd, but would not transmit ANY power, ease the clutch out and it would grind. The dealer tried replacing the synchro, in typical Ford fashion the syncros were on National Backorder. Trans was removed twice and installed twice, second time the tech "BROKE" the beefy cast mounting ear on the transmission case,  so SON got a complete new trans,  think it was in the shop 2-3 weeks, he had an Eddy Bauer F-150 loaner that time, He didn't really care if he EVER saw the Mustang again.

TYLER - I hope you and your wife enjoy your Bronco.  I had a 2wd Bronco II on order for about 6 months back around 1984/'85. They never actually built any, guess a 2wd Ranger front suspension didn't work.  I've been watching these new Bronco's for several years,  the Wife's second '15 EDGE is very possibly the BEST vehicle we've owned, 90,000 totally trouble-free miles. The FIRST one Ford bought back.

Wife gets too "attached" to cars, not exactly sure why,  hates the way different cars drive/handle? Her 2003 Mercury Mountaineer we put 215,000 far from trouble-free miles on and it was basically worthless in trade on the first '15 Edge, we should have traded it off around 90,000 miles.

LOTS and lots of single Mom's at work had Ford ESCAPES, they seem to be durable. About evenly split between 2wd & 4wd.

Can't help you on the Bronco Sport top problem,  I'm really disgusted with Ford's inability to get things right anymore.  Things like the MACH -E Mustang, the LIGHTNING is probably a good idea,  but what does it have in common with the SVT Lightnings of '93 to '95 and the Gen 2 Lightning?  Call the new one "The ILLUMINATOR" or something, just something different.

i have a hard top bronco ordered. I ordered 2 days after it was opened up. i recieved an email that the hardtops werent available because of a manufacturing mistake. wont be available till sometime in 2022.

They couldn't give us a time..............Not that it matters, we are keep the car she has now either way and it has no issues.  I asked well, if that is the case will it be a 2023.........Said it might be:lol: Hope they honor the price:rolleyes:

Not sure who made the tops, did read it in my online travels, but can't find that info right now.

All hardtops on the Bronco have issues, but the 2-door version is literally delaying availability.

TFL did a video of replacing their rattling 4-door hardtop and went with a BestTop soft top.  It looked really nice and they liked it.

I am postulating that the lockdowns create issues like this hard top goof when people can't easily communicate by walking down the hall to talk to somebody...or a quick chat prior to a team meeting.  The lockdowns really slowed things down with the large corporations I deal with.

So, can you give me the run-down of what your wife went with?  Trim, engine/trans, color, options?  I am looking forward to driving a 2.3T with the 7-spd but that might be a while.  I am currently leaning towards a Black Diamond.

If they do I would fall over in disbelief.

The truck bed I ordered in March is finally completed, and has a $300 surcharge tacked on.  Im REALLY tempted to make a phone call and ask why in the **** do you bother making me sign a quote/contract with a set price on it then when I ordered it?   Sure enough there's a fine print section that says they reserve the  right to do so.  Doesnt take a genius to realize no matter what the prices or availability of materials it gets tacked on.

2 door of-course, Area 51 color, higher end black rims, 33" tires, Black Onyx inside(Black Onyx marine vinyl seats), 2.3 with 7 spd stick...........extra's she ordered besides the rims, Block heater, liners for the floors, Lux package, tow capability, brake controller.   It needs a brush guard, but the one Dorf offered was a POS piece of pipe for a huge sum so will go to the aftermarket there when the time comes.  I actually had no say in any of it, other than I thought the $100 block heater was a good idea, as well as the liners for the floors.  I am just happy we hopefully can shift gears for a long time to come and it doesn't have JEEP on the hood to do it :P

I haven't even been in one, they had none there, she however seen they had a 4 door one there on the way home from work one night so she stopped and looked at it, she is 6'1" tall and was worried about the interior, but she said she really liked it.  Decided to order one that night for sure.

Back to the price change...............It will be neat to see how much the price changes between what is on this sheet and when it does come.  With that said I don't expect it for a long while.  Still can't believe we are buying new, hate to be the slob hit with the depreciation, but I got to have me the 3rd pedal.......................

I'm lazy anymore I'm fine with an automatic.  Tho it is fun once in a while to drive sons 01 cobra 5 sad or my old 68 with a 4 spd.

Jokingly made the comment to son the other nite we would be trading in his mom's 13 Edge for a new Bronco. She rather hurriedly vetoed that idea. It's not so different from her 05 escape we bought new. Tho the rear of the roof line looks a lil to scion ish to me for my taste. Still up in the air to wether I like em or not but they are SLOWLY growing me.

Haven't looked at the specs at all but I would prefer a true 4x4 with manual lockouts and a v8 or at least a twin turbod v6.

The thread Broncos and blondes got me to reminiscing about some of my old rides both 4x4 and automobile. Finally found my photo album that has some of that in it. Pondered posting some pics for fun and everybody join in but hadn't decided whether to do so on an existing topic or start a new one or 2? (One for cars and another for 4x4s trucks whatever?)

Nice!  I am excited for you two.  I like the Area 51 color a lot.  I saw a Bronco Sport painted that color the other week.

I am currently leaning towards steelies for wheels, but I'm not sure.  I need to see what some of these things look like in person.  I've only seen two full-sized Broncos on the road so far and both were 4-doors.  They're big.  One was the bright Velocity Blue and the other was the Cyber Orange.  Both caused me to nearly twist my neck off while gawking!

Time will tell..............I am in the middle of the road on feelings about it.............Like the looks and the 3 pedals, but I am about anti-dorf as they come, between alignments on the twin I-beam BS years ago, and every dorf anyone in the family ever owned(Including the 2 my wife has) has been absolute pile has left a lasting impression.  When we walked into the dealer the service manager who knew my dad and uncle well did the Fred Sanford "Its the big one!" with me darkening the door of the dealership, he might be right, but hopefully they got their act together because if this Bronco would work, I could see a 7.3 gas powered truck here.............BUT, alot of IF's there:unsure:  Either way, they must be atleast going the right direction with the products.

I have been a Ford/ Lincoln/ Mercury my entire life , that being said I could never justify the price for a new one, looked at a 2020 Lincoln Navigator, asked the sales man how how they could justify $93,000 , his answer was it’s a Lincoln😎

Oh, I know.............Always bought used here too, but I highly doubt many will be new like we wanted, which means next to no used to be had and that won't be for some time.  So, considering that, are making an exception to the rule.  With all that said, I really think not many in this current culture care about the price, all they care about is the payment figure.............to me it is insane on the terms some have, well it will be half rusted out here before it is owned.
