TD7 International tranny oil

Looking at another TD7E to purchase and have a question about the transmission oil, I know that the transmission pulls good in all speeds but the torque converter obviously has a leaking seal since when it’s running there is a steady stream coming from the drain hole in the bottom of the flywheel housing, I know the guy has been running universal tractor hydraulic/transmission fluid , not hy Tran for a while, question is, any reason this would damage the transmission, I wouldn’t think so but figured I’d ask, I know the torque converter needs to come out and be re sealed but just curious about the transmission also, it doesn’t leak and feels strong so.

If the oil he has been using meets the HyTran specs, it should be okay.

I if it has been changed on a regular basis I’m sure it’s fine. Tons of people completely neglect changing transmission/hydraulic oil because of cost. What’s the oil look like? Clean, milky, mud?

Oil is clean, specs on the oil bucket does say hy-tran equivalent among other things, from the looks of the steady stream leaking from the flywheel housing it’d be getting all new fresh oil every few days, owner doesn’t want to sink the money into the machine to repair the converter leak, labor wise it could get pretty expensive.
