Dirt_Floor_Poor Posted August 9, 2021 Share Posted August 9, 2021 I’m sure it would be difficult to estimate the time required very accurately. A machine this age, you never know what you might find. A lot will depend on how hard the track is to separate. Has the master link been butchered by the previous owner(s)? Will whoever does the repair use a pin press or drive the pin out the hard way? I can’t imagine what it would take to break the track on mine. The master link has been welded and rewelded and then rewelded again just for good measure. I plan to just torch my link in half and then replace it when I can get around to it. I’ve had my own ongoing project for awhile and track work is expensive. just Dave Posted August 10, 2021 Share Posted August 10, 2021 You might want to look into a much heavier grease, pending repair. There is also a sealing wax product used to seal large gas valves after they have been cycled. It does not harm a precision gas valve and cleans up easy enough when rebuilding. Weapon Posted August 11, 2021 Share Posted August 11, 2021 Back in the day on the older machines guys would pump up the adjuster, measure the distance between idler yoke and piston cylinder, cut and split a section of pipe to fit over and clamp together. On the first go around as I filled it with grease, grease came out between the valve and the body of the tightened. I checked that I had tightened it enough and I think I did so I removed it and put an oring on the valve and reinstalled it. I don’t think it leaked grease this time. Any thoughts on this. just Dave Posted August 17, 2021 Share Posted August 17, 2021 Any thing can be improved if it sealed it itis a good thing. My 150 had a stuck adjuster when i bought it. I hard piped a porta-power pump to it and was able to break it loose, then followed the oil with grease. I havn't had any more trouble out of it.
