Bucket List Tractors

So on the early ones without N what do you do to stop it? Pull the range in neutral? Never realized this

Yes. This has the same effect on the shuttle valve as the “N” does on those machines, but then in effect it is doubly in neutral, as not only the F/R clutches have the pressure cut but the range is also disengaged. Once the range (or speed trans on the synchros) hits neutral, the computer puts the shuttle in neutral. There are switches that detect this on the gear selector linkages. Once the shuttle is in neutral, it is possible to put the range (and speed trans if synchro) back in gear and the tractor will not move, until you floor the clutch pedal and release it, then the computer will energize the selected shuttle valve. All the 5100s are this way and about the first half of the 5200s. It works fine, I put quite a few hours on a synchro 5140, but it is not quite as intuitive as the shuttle with N in it. And for round baling, with all the stopping, the  shuttle N is nicer.

Too many to have hopes of obtaining them all.  But since this is an IH board................

  1.  Super M

  2. 400

  3. 1066 BS

  4. 856

  5. 5488 MFWD

Several a piece of JD's and Oliver's.  Lately, I've had an itch for a Ford 6710 MFWD.

I have always preferred bigger framed tractors even in utility applications, a six cylinder diesel and higher seat/flat platform sells it for me, some of the old favourites from the neighborhood come to mind, 656, 756, 856, 1066, 2-105, 2-85,  2-135, 1655, 1850, 1130, 1135, but as much as I like old stuff, 4x4, powershift, better cab, more power...  is pretty cool

If I could only choose 3 it would be the 3 best of 4 different styles of tractor, a 52/5488, 71-89 series Magnum, White 100 or Workhorse series, Agco Allis 9655 or similar, the Agco is neat because of the Navistar(Detroit) engine, Funk powershift, 40 km/h road speed, White rear end, tight turning 4x4 front end, it touches on many bases

1 with heat

1 with AC

1 with a working radio

So that’s 3 tractors? Because in theory you could get all that in one! lol

I would only have two! Already have my grandfather's "M". Next would be the 806D I used to have unteen years ago. Last one would be but would never happen is the last 5488 that IH  built.

SMTA diesel. I gravitate towards those for many reasons, I'd like to own one some day.

Apart from that, probably a 7488- been behind the wheel of a 3788 and a 6588 and they are sweet- a 88 would be even more awesome.

Also either a 10/14/1566 and/or a 1468 because they are just neat.
