Bucket List Tractors

Recommended Posts

#1.       1256 or 1456.

#2         5250 with low hours

#3.        Mx120

I know the majority of y'all are choosing the oldies but goodies for a collection but my last 2 are based off what I could use on my farm. Since I'll never afford a low houred 5250 or mx120 I put them on my list

1026 hydro. Mike and I went to an auction that had a nice 1 owner, way back in time, to get it. But it sold for more than Dad allowed us (we worked for him at the time). I always liked that model.

Boxcar Magnum

Allis D14 or D15- I sold the D14 I had to get $$$ toward the 4010. I had put new oversize rear tires and a nice paint job on Allis while I had it.

But really, guess I'm like Tyler- I have more than enough tractors to do what farming I'm still doing, and I get tired of the constant maintenance on them, some more than others. My 826 hydro and the 1456 are the last 2 working (as opposed to show/parade) tractors I will ever sell. Of course, by then I will probably be 6 feet under anyway....

Not sure if this counts but I can list 3 that I've always wanted to own or operate to see if I liked them but haven't.

1.)   White 2-135. I've always liked the looks of the whites. Cabs seem to be roomy and comfy. Price is great, what's not to like??

2.)  5610, 6610 ford.  My dad and I have always shared a love for the looks of this series of tractor. You know how you look at a tractor and say, dang that's one sharp looking tractor?? That's for whatever reason it for us.

3.)  8340 ford.   Now that I've bought my 7840 fwa Ford and have really grown to like it. The cabs are huge, powershift 16spd, A/C will frost your ballz, super quiet, nice operators layout, (with the exception of LH reverser it could use) and overall good tractor. I find myself wanting to buy a straight 8340 2wd just to bale hay with.

I love my Red equipment, but this would be my (non red) bucket list

For me

a tractor with a cab, AWD, and a loader. a magnum would be over kill but work great

A  544 with a mid mount sickle mower

a 200 to go with my super c and the 230

and finally two skid steers, one with wheels and one with tracks

A couple from other colors;

Allis 200 or 210-20, just love the looks of the 100 series. D-21 would work too!

Oliver 550, 770, 880 or something like a 1650. These things are really growing on me.

I NEED another tractor like I need another hole in my head but one can dream!

I really like the looks of the White Field Boss MFWD tractors. I’ve never so much as sat in one but they sure look sharp.

Same here. Might be the most miserable sob on the planet to operate, but I like em.

Guess I'll play along.

#1 would be a 1206.  Actually checked this one off the list a couple years ago.  Took me 20+ years of wanting to finally pull the trigger, LOL

#2 Super MTA diesel.  Maybe someday.  Got it's twin version, a gasser.

#3 Either a 1456 or 1066 open station.  Once again someday.......

Gotta get a couple kids through college first.

I wouldn’t mind having a 5250 around either. Preferably a ‘97. Back in 2008 I was looking for a 5250, and learned an odd phenomenon about those tractors.  Later 5250s with the N in the shuttle and in the 2wd configuration are scarce as hen’s teeth. Early tractors without the N are common enough as 2wd. I ended up buying a 2wd MX135 because of that oddity. I was determined to have at least 115 hp, 2wd, and the N in the shuttle.

JD 4960

Ford/Versatile 976

Ford 8830 mfd or TW35

White 2-135/155

those were the tractors I grew up wanting

Now since I became an IH collector…

1206

4386 would be interesting

1456 who doesn’t want one?

5488 mfd

and for some reason I’d love to have a Ford 5610 or 7610 both in series II

I may have a tractor addiction y’all!

Unlike many people who grew up on the farm, my boys and I have all my Dad's tractors except one. We also have several of our own. That being said, the one that Dad traded for a new 1486 was a black stripe 1066 that he only had a short while and we don't have the serial number, sigh..... So top three on my bucket list are...

5488 All Wheel Drive

Black Stripe 1066

1256

And 4th a Black Stripe 1568 to go with our White one

And............... well you know

I will add I may not have all the tractors I want but I want the ones I have!

My 986 was a bucket list tractor for me and it just makes me smile when I see it.

My magnum is 100% your guys fault and was a tractor I didn't know I needed!

On edit the BS 1566 was your guys fault too....

A little late to the party but here we go:

1.  1066 or 1466 open station.  Looked at a tired 1066 this past week.  It had potential but nothing is cheap around here.

2. A hydro.  Any model not picky.

3.  An 856.

I could add more but this will keep me wishing for a long time. Of course there is always the potential for something else to come up for sale...

As long as that keeps you out of the dog house.

A Ford TW. my dad was a ford mechanic for many years, so I've got a bit of a soft spot for them.

So on the early ones without N what do you do to stop it? Pull the range in neutral? Never realized this
