Tractor of the week # 14 1456

INTERNATIONAL 1466

As many of you know I have a real soft spot for the International 14 series. Like all of them. This week we are looking at the iconic 1456 classic muscle. We own two 1456's currently. The one that is more red with the 18.4,s we have owned since '94. It has been our planter tractor 27 years now and also does anything and everything else on the farm. It had a cab when we bought it, which I took off the day after it came home. It has 98xx hours and serves us well. The second one is not new to our family, it was purchased by my late uncle in 1981. My uncle was the second owner. This is the first tractor that I helped paint back in '81. Unfortunately it did not always live where there was a good shed and it needs restoration. It has 62xx hours and it came to live with us after my uncle passed this past February. We are very proud to have this tractor. It is also special in it's own way, maybe someone will notice. So now let's see and hear about y'all's 1456's.

My 1456 is just a dream at this point. Someday maybe.

Edit; Maybe change the badges on the 7, It's got 18.4x38's and 10.00x16's. Suppose that might fool some people? I'd still want a real one though!

Here's ours, it's a 1971  We bought it in 2003 from my uncle just to have a big tractor to play with.  Started farming in 2013 and it was the only tractor that we really used until 2019 when I bought the 1086.  It needs some work but it's my favorite. It currently has 5400 hrs.

Kind of big for this area when they were sold new.  Nonetheless a couple were sold around here during that time.  One was on a sizable dairy/crop operation.  I did not think about it much at the time when my dad stopped by there on business but they had a bunch of tractors that collectors are crazy about today.  IH 1456, IH 4786, JD 2510.  The other that I remember went to a crop farm that did cabbage among other vegetables.  They also had a 4156.  It would have been interesting to have a 1456 dueled up pulling a 700 6 bottom plow back in the day.

Don't believe I have ever seen a 14 with frog eyes before.

15th off the line.  The only thing I can surmise is that it was born as a fender delete, but most of the evidence is gone.  It has had an aftermarket cab at some point for a while as evidenced by the cowling, but no factory harnesses for any factory cab options.  Definitely different.

What a lot of great 1456's! I think we have the most of these so far in our "Tractor of the week". Guess I need a better picture of our second 1456 for y'all to notice what makes it special, besides being my uncle's. If someone guessed I missed it.
