Not my thing really. Leather belt and only the felt strip that comes with the hat. Personal preference I guess.

Dogs would go nuts if I tried to wear a snake skin anything ?

Like Nick I only have one cased well rest are same as his was.

Don't have to pull pipe unless you stick a bucket. This one stuck at the tee on the way out. Took off the lead pipe and could see it was a stabilizer from the fiberglass rods come apart. Took off the the top pipe and it was four pieces of stabilizer. Easy out then!

When I was at Mullen it was that way. Two rods was deepest. Most were one and a half or less. A liesurely hour to change leathers.

For some reason the closer to a river the deeper the wells. Never understood that.

Thirty years ago I could pull a deep well by hand, especially if if had wood rods. By no means easy but could be done.

Now, shoulders won't let me. Either use bale bed arms or Ranger winch. Work smarter not harder. ?

I had a digger truck with a winch up top, that made well work easier. That same deep well, has a 10 foot mill. No ladder up top, so you have to climb the wheel to check oil. I was used to 6 foot mills where I could look in easy.

I thought when you mentioned releather you were talking about having to put the gun back in the holster . Lol

The leather is the seal for the pump ?

Pump leathers, hanging on the wall as spares.

Whatever it is I'm seeing here (I have no idea), was it a natural occurrence? That's the stuff of nightmares.

The dilemma would have been do you clean the gun or the shorts first.

Always the gun!  That way you don't get caught with your pants down, and no way to defend yourself!  ?

This is why they have rattlesnake roundups in TX. Highway workers took the picture a while ago.  I saved it to remind me that a copperhead or 2 over the summer really isn't all that bad.

A bit different style here.

A pic of different buckets. Diameter based on depth of well and size of head.

They can have one to three leathers with most having two.

Here are the three worn out leather "cups" with a new one.

Here is a step I made to be able to get the hood off to check/change oil on my ten foot heads. It chains around tower leg up on platform and gives me enough more height.

So simple.  I tried over thinking it.
Now if you would just bring a 10 footer along with a 40 foot tower... I really want a 16 footer for no reason.

There are 5 or 6 complete towers and heads in Charlie Stoners front yard.

I will find out the story.

Maybe they went solar?

Bet they are for sale.

Not sure what size.

Head got buried deep.

Added some rattles to the rattle jarIMG_20210607_104419836_HDR.thumb.jpg.e781730c0f193c092d7dc925b73193b6.jpg

I just received this Handy tool in the mail from Todd and after reading  Hillers story I'm thinkin It's for removing the rattles from them pesky snakes

We don't have snakes around here like that so I'm going to use it as a church key ( bottle opener)

I’d make it longer if I was removing rattles....  they say there are timber rattlers here but I don’t know anyone who has actually seen one. I do like the rattle though. That is pretty cool.

Last rattlers seen in these parts were seen about 3 miles from my place in the 1930's

I have a friend who found a nest of them on an Island off the cost but only that one time

But they say there are no big cats in Maine and I have seen two to date

Yeah, big cats don’t exist here either technically but they are around. I know in the 30’s they ran a wolf down and killed it about 10 miles north of me. They hung it up from a down town building and took pictures of it afterwards.
