IH 656 for our new farm? Or which would you recommend?

Using a push dozer blade on a rear drive tractor would be better for snow than a loader as to not pry up on the rear and nose down in the front.

Not bashing front drive axle tractors as I prefer them here in the hills

HAHAHA!!!! I told my wife if she didn't approve a bigger budget for a tractor that this will be her FATE!!!

Don't talk much do they? Maybe I could hire her next time we load fat hogs to push them up the loading chute! She looks able for the job! ?

It originally came with an RD injector pump on the engine and was converted to a Roosa Master, recently, by the indication that it's a new pump.

That 1086 looks pretty nice.  Would be gone in an instant here.

RD was a IH built injector pump. They discontinued building it part way through the 06 series production run. They were then switched over to the Roosa Master.

To answer your questions

Parts for these pumps are very hard to come by and when you do, its going to cost you some money to fix with all those scarce parts.

Roosa Master pumps in that era were like dandelions in the spring. They're everywhere and easy to source for parts.

  • 4 weeks later...

After a lot of tire kicking and have two sellers crawfish on our deals I bought the 656 Hydro. I have a wide front end for it shipping to me next week. I will be on the look out for a loader and learning how to plumb another hydraulic set to the rear. The tractors drives very nice the Hydro works very well. I am happy with this tractor. I look forward to learning everything I can about this tractor. I do intend to repaint and rebadge it to its original form...it is not one shade of Red right now :)
