Hello all, I have not been on site for 3 weeks, the reason is I had a stroke lost the left side of my body temporarily which was regained with a tpa it came back 18 hours later that was scary got given tablets regained use of left side again. I had only 15 seconds warning, the thing that saved me was my phone, I now realise how important it is to set it up for emergency and the importance of a check up and not to ignore certain signs.

Eight months ago I got dragged to emergency by ambulance as I collapsed at work and the doctors put it down as a migraine (I do not get migraines) in fact my specialist told me it was a TIA the warning. Blood pressure is good cholesterol up a little bit but not dangerous. So boys get checked a keep an eye out if you are bit off.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you're on the up & up!

Mike

good you are on the upside. Dad had a head injury in WWII and lost hearing in one ear. Like other WWII vets he got discharged and went on with life. When we were growing up he would have instant mood changes, from calm to angry in a second. At 50 he was working by himself and had a major stroke, co-worker found him and called squad. Did a brain scan on him and found he had over a hundred TIAs. Said everytime he was having a mood change he was having a TIA. Doctors told us everytime you have a TIA it leaves some sort of scar tissue on the brain. That was at 50 years and he lived until he was 72. About all he could do was watch TV and shuffle around the house with a walker. DON'T MESS WITH STROKES!!!!

So glad you are ok. My friend who was in his late  40’s at the time and in apparent excellent health, had a stroke, he collapsed at his sewing machine, same as you called his wife from the garage. Took a long tome to get back to “normal” still shakes like a leaf when doing fine work and is always cold.
listen to the doctors and take care of yourself!

Glad to hear your doing well.

I had an event 18 years ago

I was cranking the landing gear on a loaded trailer on a hot August day.

Didn't feel well when I got back to the house later that day laid down to take a nap still felt nauseous had some pain in may arm.

Went to the ER they tested my blood said I had a heart attack they did a cardiac catheter expecting to find a blockage but didn't find one.

They called the event a cardiac spasm said I had high blood pressure and a abnormal EGK, my T-wave is inverted.

They put me on a betta blocker a drug that keep your heart from running away and beating to fast and  a 81 aspirin daily.

I go get a stress test every couple of years since, the cardiologist thinks I will live a long life now that I have things under control.

Listen to the doctor Eat healthy, stay active, no partying and you will be fine

New Englander, what did you do to lower your blood pressure?

5288IH, glad you caught it and recovered so quickly.

My Dad had several mini strokes which he ignored which lead to his major stroke which eventually lead to his death.M

There is not enough information out there on strokes, how to prevent them and what to do when someone is having one.

Blood pressure is fine taking statin for cholesterol and clopidogrel and aspirin for blood thinning LDL Cholesterol reading is 4 mmol/l not high at all but recommended rate is 1.8 mmol

It is the bad cholestrol you have to watch out for strokes as plaque can cause it

Good to have you back and good luck in the future?

My advice is to: Do not be your own doctor, good doctors will run the tests  necessary to diagnose (to the best of their ability) what to expect based on what they see.

Their best guess is normally better than my own, IF THEY ARE WORTH THEIR SALT.
