No Till Drill selection advice

I am looking for a No Till Drill 12’-15’ wide that either folds for transport or can be pulled endwise for transport.

My County Soil & Water Office has been sharing a No Till Drill with a neighboring county, but it has come time for my county to purchase its own No Till Drill.

Thank you.

If you want end transport on that size drill Esch mfg in Lancaster PA makes something that fits the bill. We have a Great Plains 10' but I don't think they have one that folds until 20' model though I can be wrong

Don't think you will find a folding drill under 15'. Deere 1590's are pretty much the standard for no-till drills. Landoll and Great Plains would be the other 2 I would look at. Dealer support would influence my decision.

I have been renting an Esch 12ft end transport drill from Zimmerman's Farm Service.  I think they have something like 6 or 8 of them they rent out each year and then sell as used.  I pull it home with my pickup.  I have had outstanding stands of oats, triticale, and sudangrass using this drill.  Lots of neat features and seems to be very well built.  They have a small grass seed box but I haven't planted any hay yet since buying the farm where we are.  It seems to pull pretty easy on the level but on one of the steeper hills we farm my 5250 would not pull it uphill without the MFWD engaged.

Call up your buddy bunny! I’m sure he can help you out!

On a serious note, check out what the Vt extension is doing for no till drills. I know they have 2 but I can’t tell you what they are. If you’re looking for a folding drill I think you’re gonna be losing the smaller farms as customers because they don’t have hp enough.

IF there’s still smaller farms over there...??

I cant find anything regarding how requirements on the Each drill I posted about.  What do you think they require on the flat or in hills?  Im guessing 100hp+ and some real iron, not a 4 cylinder?

Thank you RABBIT!

Folding is not as big a priority as just being able to reduce the width for transport.  An end-pull drill would fit the bill nicely!!!
