1086 hour meter won’t stop until battery disconnected

Recommended Posts

So my uncle recently purchased a 1086 that’s in mint condition.  He went out to start it this spring and noticed that it had more hour on it then when he parked it last fall, battery’s were dead.  He charged the battery’s and put a battery disconnect on the tractor.  As soon as the tractor has power the hour meter starts ticking, key off, it only stops when battery power is disconnected.   Does the hour meter get its power from the key switch? Or the oilers pressure sender?  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tractor Only had 4500 hours so not looking to add a lot when it’s not running.

Most of them have an oil pressure sender with power to one side and once the engine is running then power to the hourmeter.

It might be the oil pressure switch is stuck on the electric connection
