IHC LA engine colors

that would put it at 1938 . it would be red. plus there should be red on it in places also.   on the tractors after nov. 1937 they were changed to red. i have never saw a grey lb engine but dont mean they are not out there.

oops , i should have said gey LA. engine. all LB are red.

The decision to change to red occurred in May of 1939.  Your engine would be grey with a red flywheel and belt pulley.  The grey colour would be the same dark grey of the McCormick tractors.  The red is the same familiar IHC 2150 red.

it cant be 2150 red, as this color was not out till the 60 series tractors . it would be the # 50 red which is a deeper red, and would need a code and have it mixed. same with the mccormick grey. there is also a write up on this original paint on" mccormick deering paint.com grey paint."

are the LA engines always delivered in gray or later red, or are they also sold in green?
or was my engine painted over later by a creative person?
can't find another color under the green paint
