sandhiller
Had a little storm over the weekend. Just wondering how everyone came out. I am sure some out there had it a lot tougher than me and hope you get dug out and calf losses were kept to a minimum Those calving right now had little to no sleep for 48 hours or more. Temps weren't bad but heavy rain turning to snow with wind steady over 20 with gusts over 50 kept people out in the calving lots. As of this morning still have some highways closed in Western Nebraska Main street in Valentine Cheyenne, WY didn't have the rain so wound up with more snow Think somebodies going to need a bigger shovel? This is awesome grass making moisture and we should be going into grazing season with a good start. In my area we really need these March and April snows to get the grass to growing in May. Although tough for the short term, it is a blessing for a good summer. This heavy wet snow covered the soft sandhills and with temps nearing 50 by weekend, it will go straight down. Perfect! 3

Today is his tenth anniversary in the Guard, my how time flies! Lot of one lane roads in town till they get plowed out.

Art From Coleman
W** ARE these 'symbols'? Bad enough that the MEDIA gives these storms 'names' in order to sensationalize a 'normal' and recurring act of nature, but now they invent NEVER before symbols that seem to be a cross between the one for the Chinese flu, and a plus/minus sign, missing the 'plus'. Maybe they mean NO nuclear fission detected.
DaveinSD
Very little of it got this far north, I was hoping for more moisture.

We got rain but not sure how much. It’s muddy.

They had to do something to retain viewership when cancel culture got rid of the well endowed weather girls. Pretty smooshed up on phone. A lot better on laptop screen. Harder to get a screenshot though I use this site along with calls to friends in the area when deciding when the wife could get out to see her patients today. Can never have too much information. It was tough pushing through the slush under the snow this morning feeding cows. Nice to know highway conditions but the 12 miles to get to one can bite you. I know you been through a few of these blizzards Art! County road patrol was first traffic we saw by the house at 13:

Art From Coleman
One would have thought that the state could have put the Highway numbers on the map, and an explanation of what the symbols mean, along with a LIST of the highways that were closed.
Mr. Plow
Freezing rain in north central IL.....yuck......but much better than feet of heavy wet snow.... Good luck safely digging out!
dads706
A little snow on the ground this morning. Mostly just rain yesterday and today. 50mph winds along with the rain yesterday. Frost is gone from the gravel roads so that means no bottom to them until we get some sun and heat. Wife's nephew said they got 31 inches where he is in Wyoming.
bkorth
Inch and a half of rain here and about that much snow early this morning, cattle yards are gonna be sloppy for a while. I'm surprised the doors in that picture can handle all that snow, that's a lot of pressure.

OK so that was a pizzpoor pic to put up, my bad, it was the easiest. Like I said, a lot better on laptop, not so much on phone. When you run your mouse over the symbols it gives a road report for that location. also has camera views when you click on their icon I think you can look up 511 for any state. Art From Coleman
Nothing to apologize for, one would think that the state would have made it simple by just posting a list of roads that were closed, instead of having to tap on each icon to find out what is going on. They made it look like a video game, find the bonus icon and win a prize type of deal. Or, better yet, just said that ALL the roads in the affected counties were impassable due to the weather conditions. Too many gimmicks to go through to get information. (I'll bet the weatherguessers on the television channels were worn out after all their emphatic hand waving and dancing around).
dads706
Growing up, I hated feeding cattle this time of year. They were standing bely deep in mud at the bunks (dad didn't have cement pads for the bunks) and getting stuck with the feed wagon seemed like an every day occurance. Ground sloped away from the upright silo just enough that you couldn't keep the feed wagon from sliding away from the unloading chute. Grrrrrrr. Love feeding cattle, but don't miss those days.
