@timothy nolt

Bear in mind I am not a turbo expert.

If you didn’t know, the “W” designates that turbo as a waste gate version.

The HX35W was standard issue on the Cummins 5.9 (359 cid) in the Dodge pickups with the Bosch P and VP44 pumps, up to 235 engine hp, and I know the HX35W will work well past 300 hp in that application.

The CDC 5.9 (same as Cummins 5.9) in the CIH MX Maxxums came with the HX35 turbo, running up to 168 engine hp and able to do more than that if need be.  Since the IH D360 is near enough identical in displacement to the Cummins 5.9 and pretty similar in power characteristics in the naturally aspirated versions I would think the HX35 or HX35W would perform satisfactorily on the D360.

  I thought the 666 had a 312 engine? Believe that uses the same head gasket as a 360, 414, 436 and 466. If all that is correct you maybe able to just put a manifold and turbo off a 1066 on it. The turbo is probably a little large for an engine 25% smaller in displacement but that might be good? Thank you are putting a turbo on a higher compression engine without piston cooling nozzles. I would not bump up the fuel.

A restoration pro told me about this cast blast and I tried it and really like it compared to other high temp black paints.

I have no idea how I got teachers pets stuff in this post! However his stuff looks really good!!!

Lol when I got notification I was wondering when I posted anything about a 666 or DT360.

 Thanks for the compliment.

A local organization runs a light tough farm and there are a few DT360s and this post got me curious on their rules.

I agree without the cooling jets to be cautious.  Dad’s 986 that he wanted a turbo on a few years ago is one that is similar situation.  He mentioned turning up the fuel a week ago and told him no.

I'm running a TO4 like a 1066 has on mine.20190716_114421.thumb.jpg.a541f21bd4f83b856f2d5bb80a29156e.jpg

20190715_105532.thumb.jpg.cbbb50db573660e3abc2979d9bce5094.jpg I have a cast IH manifold on that has it turned end for end from a 1066 setup. It's just a farm tractor but it works well. Think it's set around 150 hp but that tach wasn't hooked up when I dynoed it. 140 it wasn't pulled down at all but 160 it was working a little. Figured when I need pump or injector work I'll put a 10mm head and the bigger injectors in. It's still running the factory set out of the 886 it came from that tested good when I overhauled it when I put it in. I put the extra oil squirters in at that time too. 20201027_164614.thumb.jpg.4bd607dd74cda48e1527867c41732c1d.jpg

Ah! I'm buying a 666 Diesel soon and wandered across this forum, thank God. Lol. I plan on 30.5x32's or some other similar pulling tire and similar turbo setup, like MX Turbo Kit or use parts off of the bigger diesels.

 custom built for DT 360 in billet steel with a T4 flange, (think that is correct description)  made to mount the aftermarket 66 series exhaust system parts to keep cost down a bit. has the ports at head side to match the larger truck runners. Still may need to cut the tank for some applications. Oil ports are smart and the truck sized oil pump is a good idea too. Picture here is bolted to an ag 360 for display purpose

We made the flange pattern on this set up the same as all the 66 series tractors ran, wide variety of turbo's could be bolted on. All it takes is more fuel! We also can build with the next smaller plate TO3? like a cummins wears, Used a turbo off of a 426 AC  ( from a gen set) on that setup that worked real well. Fast spool on that setup.

I have a IH 666 that I have shoehorned a DT 467 in frame. Engine has 13 mm head with BW S300 turbo, water system and more. Clutch is 3disk Leaman unit.  Tranny has all new gear ratios except 1 st and reverse being the same.  Diff has had the needle bearing treatment  We are just a couple days from being complete and then off to the paint shop.  First hook is a couple weeks away. Tell me what I missed.
