Bd 240 swap with a Sd 220?

Recommended Posts

I posted this in trucks but probably belongs here. I have a question for you guys, will a Sd 220 fit in my 56 S -110?

I have a locked up Bd 240 in it now. I also have the trans from the Sd 220. Both are a three on the column.

Thanks for your help! Brian

Definitely a question for the truck section.

I will say that I don't see why it wouldn't fit.  A smaller engine where a bigger one is usually isn't a problem.  I see a lot of 350's in S-10's.  Swapping motors in old trucks is usually a pretty easy gig.

As long as they are both from trucks it will bolt right in if the  engine was from a power unit it might need changing front covers and front plate.

Ok thanks, they are both out of trucks. Would the length still be the same or would you have to change the

drive shaft?   Brian

engines are externally identical will bolt right in  also bellhousing mounts to frame so transmission stays where its at that way the drive shaft length is not even a consideration
