International wonder plow breakaway hitch.

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone

Posting this for my uncle. He has what he calls a "wonder plow" that was his grandfather's.  He is cleaning it up and painting it. But he can't remember how the hitch should be. He feels like something is missing. I have picture, any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure that hitch is for your plow. It doesn't look like the normal Little Wonder hitch. It actually reminds me of an Oliver hitch. You can search for IH Little Wonder plow pics.

Does the hitch have any IH logos cast into it?

The tail wheel doesn't seem right either. It seems way too large in diameter. It looks like a wheel from a IH Little Genius plow.

Maybe post a few pics of the wheel and it's mounting.

That hitch was used on many makes and models of plows. What doen't look right to me is that the clevis hook appears to be in the latched position but the release lever on top appears to be depressed (released). Perhaps the spring under the lever is broke/gone. Or could be froze up.

does he does know that these hitches use the twisted clevis,? just  asking, as thats what he may think is missing.

I thought Little Wonder plows did not have tail wheels at all? But I'm not a plow expert by any means.

At least some if not all had a rolling landslide but they were much smaller. 6-8" I would think.
