Cummings1486
Brought home this 706 from a neighbor whose husband passed last year. Guy had a bunch of old machinery that got parked and never moved again until this week. This 706 was one. Story was it was only running on 5 of the cylinders when it was parked. He bought a 986 to replace it and never used it again. This was 10-12 years ago and unfortunately sat outside. I’d like to fix it up and get it going but the motor is locked up and has water in the oil. All levers are froze up. I think a guy would have wayy more in it getting it going than it’s worth. Could buy one good to go for less. So it’s probably going to be a parts tractor. Hate to strip it and scrap the rest but wouldn’t make sense to rebuild it without any sentimental tie. 1964 model. Hate to see these sit and rot away.

Actually the fenders were the big eye catcher for me on it, very straight and good shape. Those I think I’ll save for the 1256 when the cab comes off ? stronger800
That’s the de$irable rear end for pullers correct?
Jeff-C-IL
Yep, good parts machine! A couple thoughts: Note the light "bases" still on the tank? Likely those fenders were added as the original tractor didn't have them. What size are those rear tires....they look too small to be 34". I think those are the rare 32" centers? Cant quite read the size...they may be Goodyear but they look "good"! And are those hydraulic levers really moded to be near to the top of the fender, or am I seeing things? nepoweshiekfarmalls
They appear to be 34" tires based on the spacing of the cast centers next to the wheel weights. I have attached a photo of our 706 for reference. It appears that pipe extensions (likely a pair of late levers) were attached to the original short cast levers, making them rather tall! Cummings1486
Took a few more pics of it now that it’s in the shop. The tires are 16.9 34 tires. Not sure about the 32” centers? Maybe someone can tell if they are or if they’re something special? The levers were added on to make the single one longer. And a second remote was added

Jeff-C-IL
Ahh. My mistake. My 806 had 34" wheels and they looked bigger to me--but note no weights on mine! I thought maybe those centers were 32" because of that. Nope. 34" wheels & centers. Thats a farmer built lever extension if I ever saw one.....? Look around for a good running diesel tractor with bad tires and all bashed up.....and make a good unit out of the 2!
