Recommended Posts

I was following the shut down on the parlors app this week and was wonder when silicon valley thought they were the police for the Internet? Let’s Think about this it’s OK for black lives matters to broadcast their propaganda and Tifa these neo-Nazi groups and other Internet sites with porn on them that’s OK!!!  When will Red power get shut down ???? We Americans need to put a stop to this!!!! You need to hit them in their pocketbook stop using Amazon stop using Walmart stop using Facebook and Twitter that’s how you get their attention!!!!!!!!

Funny, never had a twitter, opened a facebook last spring because I was helping on a class reunion.   When this started I opened a parler and started learning how to use it.  Within a week I have learned more about stuff going on then any time in my life.   Just tell people the truth and most are smart enough to make the right decision.   Seems the ones in power don't like that........wonder why??🤔

I understand that Parler was a free-speech platform that functioned like a parallel to Twitter.

It appears there is a lot of censorship going on with the excuse of violating this or that term, while others of a different political leaning are allowed to say or do most anything they like and its ok. Whats fair for one should be fair for the other too.

I got kicked off facebook for my comments about the UK basketball team and their coach.

Twitter and facebook have been flagging, throttling and pulling post they deemed in violation of policy.  That is legitimate, problem is twitter doesn't pull Irans sites calling for death to jews but pull president Trumps post saying it is calling for violence. Just one of many examples.   Parler is a site unlike twitter but doesn't regulate free speech whether it be from the left, right or planet neptune.  The left seems to have a thing about free speech, all for it till you say something they don't agree with then you should be banned.   Twitter is a private company and should be able to do as they want, if I don't like it i can leave.  But when you regulate some speech you are no longer a platform and are a publisher, then you no longer fall under the protection of section 230.   I am not a lawyer and didn't stay at a holiday in express last night so would not even try to explain anything about this.  Sure is funny that all three of the most powerful companies in the tech/world all seemed to gang up on parler at the same time.   Why are they so worried about a small start up social media platform???  Common sense tells when I smell smoke..........

There are arguements that the section 230 distinctions don't apply to the mega platforms. The one I read ran about three pages. A complicated answer to a simple question. 230 is/was designed to protect mom and pop gun,tractor,4x4 whatever forums. Not multi billion dollar commercial entities that weren't even imagined when it was written. But took off as soon as it was. They are trying to write "new truth".

It makes sense so you can't sue red power for something I say on here, seems logical.   When facebook starts fact checking and telling someone they are wrong but not the opposing side looks like it is crossing a line.   Also arguments for monopolies when smaller companies start up and they use size and power to wipe them off the map.   Not sure of the answer other than building server systems they can't control.   I just want unbiased information, I can form my own opinion.  If I don't like what someone says I can chose not to read it.  Doesn't seem that hard.

Going by another post on this forum, it’s incredibly hard to ignore a post...

Speaking of the shutdown of opposing opinions and alternate viewpoints from whatever source, blocking views on opposing social media sources, I have read from a number of sources that Dorsey and twitter was lambasting the Ugandan gov. for blocking the internet during their elections. The exact same thing they are guilty of performing. The word hypocrite isn't a strong enough word. The way things are shaking out it appears we are right back to 1939 Germany. We live in interesting times.

As the saying has it - "If the left didn't  have double standards they'd have no standards at all"

Then

“AOC says Congress under the Democrats needs to ‘rein in the media’ ”

https://www.michaelsmithnews.com/2021/01/aoc-says-congress-under-the-democrats-needs-to-rein-in-the-media.html

And they didn’t see this coming?

Maybe the fact checking should have included "useful idiot"?

"Gab, surging, has copies of all Trump’s tweets"

Gab, surging, has copies of all Trump’s tweets « JoNova (joannenova.com.au)

Another example of someone walking into a marketing opportunity.

And alternatives to the others of "the big tech" too if you look.

I just got a new Windows 10 computer.  Went to install my usual (non-Microsoft) software to be told I can only use things from their app store - a fate worse than death by a thousand cuts IMO.  Help from a blogger woke me up tp "Windows 10 S Mode".  Which is what causes that.

Their "out" to claims of restrictive practices is that you can go to the app store and download software that breaks the lock - but they don't tell you about that!

There was a Christian news media that had their accounts terminated twice

Sure reeks like censorship to me
