Tractor of the month runner up blue and white cabover.

Yeah...I saw that !!!...just thought there might have been some big conventional Macks...''...there used to be a big outfit up in BC...just across the border from Washington....Abbotsford, I think the place was....There was a big gravel extraction plant there....about 20   6x4's  going full on, only one  Mack,,,There  used to be all Macks, but for the issue of parts.....only being available   from the Mack shop......

The boss told me a bit of homespun philosophy......and i quote  ;

"Driving  a Mack is like  '''exchanging   body fluids with a person of colour''.......allright...if nobody see's you''

You can use your imagination re the ''italic's.....''...(just being PC for our forum....)

I would not want to have to make a living with any of them!! Been there done that. My little Freightliner rides better then most cars of that era and has nearly twice the power! Plus I can stand up to put my britches on!

Round here the old macks were loved for heavy duty, off road, and various day cab work. However they were rare with the long haul truckers. Very popular for logging, feed, construction, dump trucks, etc. Thx-Ace

Oilfield here. If they can’t tear up a truck, nobody can.

Wow, look at the torque figure on the KT-450.  A whopping 1,350-ft./lbs. from a displacement of 1,150 cubic inches.  Some of the current, Cummins 12-liter engines begin at that torque rating and move up from there!  I call that progress.

Look at the torque curve on the kta. Peak torque at 1500 rpm. That girl would pull great. If you started a grade at 2100 rpm it would keep gaining power as it pulled down.

Plus that's real power, not some short term boost of power the computer gives you then takes away like most new engines.

I always wanted a kta if you can't tell.

Thx-Ace

Question for the Freightliner knowledgable:  I remember seeing some of those White Freightliner COEs with that distinctive, larger grill and see that it was called a Powerliner in the article.  Was this Powerliner a special model with a larger grill opening that allowed better air flow through the radiators with higher-horsepower engines?
