A few small differences in the rear end, and the 54 being intercooled and inline pump is the only differences that I've discovered,   don't rule out the right little 5088 mine runs with our 54's.

You know, you make me want one even more now! Three in the yard! I think one is cool! I wouldn't rule out any one of the three honestly if it was what we liked.

Great tractor's, although I like my 56,86 series just as much. Funny thing is if you look close in the picture there are 3 1486's and you can see the dual of the mx285 lol.

I’ve got the models I want..... now just need the real ones.......

I like that I have 3 magnums and two 50 series and one 30 series. Sometimes I set them side by side just to see the resemblance☺️

The three first generation magnums are a 7150, 7140, and 7130.

The bottom row is a 4786, 4186, 4166, 6788, 5488, 5288, and 3688.

In all seriousness as for 50 series tractors, I like 5488’s with All Wheel Drive and duals.

Specifically, the ring & pinion is faster in a 5488 than the smaller models. Planetary gears have a slower ratio & are an 1” wider. Hence the 114” width, like a 7130/40. Bearings in the 52 speed trans should be the same as 54. 50s’ are definitely smaller.

I must have in my computer a French brochure ( probably the only one I know) of these tractors of the 5X88 series
Can I put it on this topic ?

Hello , Here is the French brochure that I scanned. Difficult to scan because of its dimensions 12.9921inches X 9.251969 inches. It is 4 pages long. If that's a problem I can put it in the Vintage Ads subject I have in my computer an Australian brochure of these tractors that I have scanned. If you are interested, I can put it online in this topic.

Since the steel triple pulley that fits to the water pump is NLA, has anyone tried the cast pulley they sell you now instead?  I’m debating whether to use it or scan the salvage yard for a good steel pulley.
