Sledgehammer
Low profile intake pipe must be a rare option ?. No long bar short bar tires is a plus. What brand is that cab?

Cool1566
Interesting cab. Wouldn’t want it on there but interesting. Looks like a White tractor cab in a way.

hagan
Those were a "cozy" brand cab. Several guys put them on 856's in this area. Good AC and pretty nice for a add on cab in that time era

messer9696
I love the looks of the 56 series. We had an 856 for a lot of years. It was the "work horse" on the ranch. How come they didn't keep the air filter access panel on the 86's?

I thought I once read somewhere that IH did away with it to prevent the easy access to the air filters to discourage cleaning them too frequently. Over the years I’ve seen some ‘66 and ‘86 series retro-fitted with home-made access panels to enable quick access to the air filters. Some were nicely done and others looked like crap. And even others had holes cut in the side of the hood with no effort to cover them with a panel at all.
Rick G.
Another great save Brian. Congrats. Where did you get it from? I’ve never seen one like that with the air intake modified to make it lower. What could possibly be the sense in doing that? Seems stupid / looks stupid like that. Or maybe I should just say it looks different, sorry. Are you going to find a tube to return it to original condition? That’s not factory is it??? I’ve never seen a 1206, 1256, 1456 or 1026 with the air intake down low like that.

Jeff-C-IL
MY guess on the air intake: Somebody had a M&W (or similar) spinout air box on that, didn't like it way up in the air, so cut off the intake to set it down lower. Then removed it for some reason and stuck the cap back on. You should restore that one with the cab, just to be different! It's unusual enough to be interesting. Idk i kinda think its an interesting look. Something ive not seen before. Would be something different to fix that cab up on a tractor. Espec if it had ac. But i like cabs, even the rattly aftermarket ones. Its a part of history and progress.
