I was told ahead of time that with the mandatory steel shot law not to bring a 12 gauge because it just wasent enough fire power and usually only resulted in wounded birds feeding the coyotes down stream. ( This was before the 3.5 inch 12 gauge ) Right at that time Remington bought the patent from Ithaca for the 10 gauge auto mag so I bought the first one i could find . It’s a beast . I love that thing and have never had a malfunction with it . I was supposed to inherit an Ithaca road blocker 10 ga, I did not, I’m not sour about not ending up with it, I am sour that it got pawned by a murdering ho-bag to fuel a gambling addiction.
hardtail
Not the caliber of scatterguns you guys are displaying but I like the sxs styling Baikal 12 hammer coach Samuel Marson Maker 10 damascus, you can see ivory at the tip of the forend and looks like a insert of gold with stamping in the stock, I would imagine this goes over a century old now never shot by me, those barrels are pretty thin
B.B.
Here's the gun that started it all for me. When I was 13 I asked dad for my own 12GA and surprisingly he said I could have it if I bought it. Not having any money and wanting a gun I worked all summer and saved up. I still remember the hard work and especially remember the day dad took me to go get it. It came from Kmart and was 199.99 best I remember in 1992. I still have the box and I think the receipt too. Mossberg 500A that did get it's original barrel replaced. I still have the original but it being a little bent involves my grannies chicken coop, a feral dog, and a barbed wire fence I forgot about in the near dark chasing said dog off. Still have the scar on my leg. If you believe the inflation calculator 100 bucks in 1992 would cost 180+ in today's money. I know I made a whopping 20 bucks a barn roof for painting them. A whole long bed pickup truck full of walnuts netted 35 dollars. Putting up hay for the neighbor for a few hours usually got you a 10 unless you worked all day then you might get a 20

DT Fan
Been wanting to post on this for awhile, finally getting caught up on the storm-damage clean-up so here goes. Couple of my model 12's, Dad's 20ga. 101, BPS 10 ga., and my Auto-5 I bought on contract from the local Coast-to-Coast store while in high school. It was my duck gun for a long time. The model 12's; pretty one is a "Y" model trap, other is a Simmons build up with a 'Hydra-coil' stock. Never seen another one like it. That stock works too, thing shoots as soft as an auto. The 10 only has a 24" barrel but is great on geese none the less. had the local gunsmith lengthen the forcing cone to take the edge off the recoil, helped the pattern too. May take that 101 out this fall if there are any pheasants around. Got an e-mail from the IDNR this morning saying the population is up 20 some percent from last year. Studying there map, up big in Eastern Ia, rest of state not so much. Down about 20% around here.
B.B.
Did a thing today. Browning A5 light 12 full choke 28" barrel. It's been RE-blued at some point and it's a nice deep blue. Stock us in pretty good shape and it appears to be a 1953 model. Serial number on receiver and barrel both match. 5 bills.... think I did OK? I needed another shotgun like a hole in my head and I would of rather had a 20 but I couldn't pass it up.

Dasnake
15 years ago the liberal gov't was making a big stink about guns again and a lot of peeps that didn't have licences were put in a tizzy about family guns that they didn't want, I told guys I worked with if they wanted to get rid of anything give me a price if its decent for all I'll buy it, I picked up half a dozen longies for decent money and a couple of freebies, not my idea, but theirs, I got a breda 12g semi, skeet gun with outside changeable chokes, it can use 3" magnums, and what a hoot to use. My kid would borrow my 500 a lot and I don't like lending stuff, so for his 30th birthday I bought him a 1300 3 1/2" magnum, he's 6'4" 290 and can handle it for me its a bloody shoulder breaker.

Frank H
I have a Belgian Browning Auto 5. I used to always shoot with my 870 Remington. I thought it was a great shotgun until I shot with a bunch of friends I made working on the railroad way upstate New York. They had A5 Brownings that I immediately fell in love with once I shot one. I bought a really nice one and have been shooting it ever since. Probably owned it for the best part of 20 years now.

littletom
I love shotguns have had many. My first nice one was 97 benelli sbe 1 that gun shot so well, but gave alot of fits with certain shell types and cold weather. When i moved to northern Il i traded it to a browning gold 10. Killed piles and piles of geese with it. Before i moved back I traded that to a 96 A5 stalker. I love that gun took it to Canada twice it shoots so sweet. Couple years ago i ran up on a near mint benelli sbe1 camo at a gun show it came home with me. Both sbe 1 are were 4 shooters. Been many others cheap and not but these are my favorites. I think i have about 20 shotguns at the moment.

About 15 years ago I was coming home from a hunting trip and fish and game pulled me over, no problem, officer comes to the door and asks if I scored anything, anything? I said no sir, got skunked and met up with some coworkers and now going home. He then asks if we can look in the camper, again no problem there is nothing there, he says no birds or fish? I say nada, but before we go in I have 9 shotguns and three long guns on the bed, ( we are not allowed handguns so no handgun subject broached) hahaha, he sort of steps back as he sees all the guns and asks, why would you need a dozen guns to go hunting, I told him after hunting we took a bunch of junior guys from the job skeet shooting to show them how its done, after that he relaxed a bit and had one last query, I hope you picked up all your shells, yup we shure did, he thanked me and said good day and didnt mention at all the beer sitting in the cupholder.

Is that a good way? The way I'm telling is as good as others and better than most.

lorenzo
This is what we have all switched to for three gun competition. Pictured with a ten round mag . There’s a couple other choices all the way to holding a whole box of shells but that gets pretty heavy . It operates just like an AR -15 would love to have a Russian AA 12 though.

Funny story even though it makes me look like an idiot. Last time i was up on your side of border. I took a browning gold as a back up, not sure why never even liked it. Last time it was out loaned to a guy. He tripped cut off when unloaded left 2 in magazine . I pulled bolt seemed unloaded, through it in case headed north. After a week near Quill lake we headed home gun was never uncased. We come up on a road block. Get guns out to check plugs. We pull all bolts back, nothing loaded. Remember mag cut off on gold. Hose want go up in it. Yep loaded gun in truck in Canada big no no. Big ticket can't come back for a while.

Things happen at the worst times, F&G have very little sense of humour. My wife has it so beaten into me about everything being unloaded and I’ve been really good with it over the years, as you know if even one shell is rolling around you have big troubles so you can imagine my holy s**t moment last year when everything is emptied out of the camper and I go down to Blaine for fuel and waiting in line I remember a bandolier hanging in the closet, I can’t stop, I can’t turn around, I can’t throw it out ( ya I thought of that too) I get to the checkpoint and I just say nothing and gas and no stay and right home to all the questions, made it through but a couple of antsy moments.
