B.B.
I know this is a tractor forum, but I like you guys and a lot of guys on gun forums ain't my cup of tea. I like all disciplines of shooting and my tastes change as time goes on. Lately though I've been shooting a lot of clays, and been having a ball. Several years ago when I was in college I fell in love with the Beretta Semi Autos of the time which I now believe were the 390 or 391 models. Back then they were 1,200 bucks which was way more than a poor college student could afford. I always told myself one day I'd own a nice Beretta, and I honestly thought it would just be one! Kind of like I only wanted one 86 series tractor lol So here's my current Beretta collection which has gotten a little out of hand. I had to buy a whole new safe just for scatterguns. Top to bottom goes like this: 690 sporting black12GA (most expensive shotgun I've ever bought), A400 12GA, A300 12GA Sporting, A400 20GA, and an A303 in 20GA. I'm really liking the 20GA size for their light weight.
DT Fan
When I was young and shooting trap I had a 692 34" top single 30" o/u combo, nice outfit. Had aTMX Perrazi for a while once. Wish I would have kept that one!
B.B.
Growing up I bought a Mossberg 500A at 13 after a summer of painting barn roofs, picking up walnuts, digging ginseng and yellow root, and helping every neighbor farmer I could. I bought all my school clothes that year and that gun for 199.99 plus tax. I still have it to this day and I would never part with it as it truly taught me the value of money. I was paid a whole 20 dollars a barn roof back then so I worked for that gun! My best friend growing up had a Winchester 1400 in 20GA. Between those two guns we shot thousands of clays, and well pretty much anything else that moved, but mostly clays. His 1400 was about worn out and eventually broke. His dad who isn't very mechanically inclined took it apart and supposedly took it to a gun smith who said it wasn't fixable. It has sat for at least 20 years in pieces and I doubt we could even find all of them at this point. Yesterday I was in a little gun shop and found a nearly new 90's vintage Winchester 1400 for 375 bucks. Of course I bought it for my friend and I can't wait to take it to him tomorrow. I took it apart and cleaned it thoroughly and it hasn't been shot much at all as evidenced by very little wear anywhere on or in the gun. So here's a not so great picture but the nostalgia of this is killing me!
B.B.
And for my last post of the night I recently found a new in box 1983 vintage Ruger Red Label in 20GA. I had made an offer on it, and after a week we were able to find some middle ground. I went with a co-worker tonight to a local shotgun club and shot a round of trap, 5 stand, and he shot a round of crazy quail with it. Kind of felt bad that for 37 years it hadn't ever been fired, but I don't have any use for a gun I can't shoot. It's a nice little gun, and I got it pretty reasonably I think. I would of much rather had another Beretta O/U but I couldn't pass this one up.

Rawleigh99
I to have a 20 gauge Red Label. I am pretty heavy into Citoris right now. I have 6 or 7, I cannot remember right now. One is 28 gauge. I have 2 Beretta O/Us and two autos that were customized by Seminole Gunworks. Two Model 12s, a Model 21, a couple of A5s and a bunch more I cannot remember right now. Not to mention a bunch of double barrels. I guess I am a little heavy on all shotguns right now!

You can keep the beretta, it’s on my gotta have list, I passed on one a while back and have kicked myself ever since. I said nahh, 1200 is WAYYY too much for a used O/U... I was wrong ?

Rawleigh99
I am heavy into that too! Too many of them can really get you into trouble. Just ask Runner! Well at least we weren't talking about roosters! LOL. Maybe that's why I like my Brownings so much!
DT Fan
I've had quite a few over the years, still have enough. I'll post some pics when I get time. The one I lament letting get away the most was not an expensive gun, a model 31, (I think) Remington 16 ga. Only 16 I ever had, really slick action, like a model 12.

I handled one of those a few weeks ago and thought of you. It was in 20GA and it was a nice gun. If I were a rich man I'd of bought it. And you do know Beretta owns Benelli and Franchi, and I think even Stoeger.

Sledgehammer
Had a 12 gauge Red Label for probably close to 20 years now. I’ve worked most of the misses out of it already. Birds or clays, it’s a good one. I won’t take it in the brush hunting rabbits or things like that. I like to take the old 1100 Remington for those duties or an 870. My Mother has a Beretta 303 I believe that I shot a lot growing up. Super smooth gun. My only Beretta scattergun is an X-Trema 12 gauge 3.5” gun. It chases waterfowl, turkeys, and coyotes.

Doug in NY
I used to shoot a lot of sporting clays back 20 years ago. Wow, hard to believe it has been that long. I played around with a bunch of different guns than got a Browning Citori, it is a Lightning Sporting Clays model, back bored, ported and extended Briley chokes. That was pretty much the end of my experimenting I shot that for about 5 years, than I started moving around and it has been in the safe ever since. The Red Label, I always thought was a hard recoiling gun. Same with the Berretta autos I tried before I got the Browning. The only one that I liked almost as much was Browning made a sporting clay auto back then and that was a sweet gun as well. Someone offered me substantially more than I had into it and it went down the road. Like with all other gun sales I have since regretted it. Great looking guns in the pictures and a fun topic as well.
Rawleigh99
Doug I to shot with a similar Browning which I still have. Great guns!
lorenzo
A company I worked for back in the 90’s paid me to escort their clients to a commercial duck blind north of Omaha on the Missouri River. I was told ahead of time that with the mandatory steel shot law not to bring a 12 gauge because it just wasent enough fire power and usually only resulted in wounded birds feeding the coyotes down stream. ( This was before the 3.5 inch 12 gauge ) Right at that time Remington bought the patent from Ithaca for the 10 gauge auto mag so I bought the first one i could find . It’s a beast . I love that thing and have never had a malfunction with it .
