Local Farm Bureau young leader group put on their annual tractor drive today. I aged out of this group but have been on all but one of these drives over the years. Entry fees support scholarships. Going 40 miles today. All colors represented. I will add pics as we go.

Yep! Better scrap it, and get a new one with warranty, before this one costs you an arm and a leg!!!

The WD is for MTO. 10mph is all the WD will do so he is in front. That way we don’t leave anyone behind.

Concluded around 1 with a meal and some awards. 24 tractors participated. Everyone seemed to have fun.

So, the hour meter has rolled over once, and it's actually 13,242.7 hours.

I felt sorry for the guy with the WD Allis, nice looking tractor, just slow. The township road commissioner at home replaced the R John Deere they bought off Dad with a 770 Oliver diesel, the R was slow, 11 mph, the Oliver was maybe only half a mile per hour faster, plus it whined terrible. JD B's, 50,520,530's are slow too.  I got passed once going to town for hog feed, I was on the SH, neighbor on his 4020-D, going to the same feed mill. Dad didn't call the order in, so I had to wait. That 4020 sounded like an airplane as it slowly walked it's way around my SH.

The tractor ride I wish I would have gone on was when Madison, Wi hosted the RPRU in 2009, they ran a tractorcade from the Alliant Energy Center where the show was to the State Capitol up town, think it was Friday afternoon, about time for afternoon Rush Hour. Would have been nice cruising along 10-15 mph looking at all the P-O'd people trying to get home from work with all those red tractors in the way.

Not this one. Those are original hours

We did a short stint on the highway going back into town which backed up the world for a while. The group pulled over once early on for a oil tanker that was headed our way. The truck driver stopped later on and saw me as I was getting ready to leave. I didn’t know him. He said “What was that parade you all were doing?  I was the A-Hole behind you guys in the semi.”  I told him it was a tractor drive and all were welcome. He thought that sounded fun.  I told him we would be doing it again next year so we’ll see. He saw himself as the nuisance which wasn’t the case at all. We were just trying to be respectful of others.

I have a 'stock' WD it will go, I believe, 12 MPH. Checked with hand held GPS. My 'pet' WD45 With 16.9x28's and a D-17 governor spring will make 19. Those extra 7 MPH make road travel a whole lot more enjoyable!

I bet they do for sure. The guy had fun and said he would come back next year with the WD.  We’ve got a guy that has several ACs and has a WD45 diesel that is supposed to be a rare bird. He is a bit eccentric and is thought to have $20K in that diesel engine. Told me that a guy in California built the engine. It will start at 55° quicker than a brand new gasoline vehicle. I witnessed that.

I went on that tractor drive. I recall going much faster than 10 MPH. I was on a  Farmall 656 Hydro and for many parts of the trip it was wide open (about 20 MPH)

I believe this one started in 2013 or 2014. We don’t put any limits on tractors like some groups will. Any tractor that will do 10mph or more is welcome regardless of age. Most years we have run more in the 12-13mph range if the machines will do that. I’ve seen $10K paint jobs along side $10 paint jobs. This is normally done in coordination with a car/tractor show on the town square that kicks off the county fair. No fair this year so it was just tractor drive. When we first set the rules we just wanted anyone to be able to have fun. So far, that has worked.
