Tractor chains

Recommended Posts

Cleaning up and found a set of tractor tire chains.  14" wide and roughly 9' long.  What size would they fit?  I'm thinking they came off a little Ford tractor or something like that.

Divide length by 3.14 and you get tire diameter.  Chains are a bit tough but they would fit a tire about 3 feet tall.  I think even fords Ns are bigger than that.

Agree but remember that the side chains are smaller in diameter than the tire. I think they used a 26 or 28 inch tire so 36 is probably close.

Using your estimated dimensions the LaClede charts show use on 10.00 - 22 truck tires and other similar sizes.  Any trucks in your past?

10.00-22 are the same size tire as 11r24.5 in the modern truck world.

They would also work on 11r22.5.

I thought 22 is 24.5 in the new sizes.

My 8.25-20s are 9r22.5 in the new sizes. I'm wrong all the time though, so feel free to school me. :)
