1960 Farmall 560 finally painted.

Recommended Posts

Well, I finally spruced up the 560. 18.4-38 on the rear (got tired of looking for 16.9s) and 10.00-16 on the front. Not restored (I've modified a few things too) but painted. Welded up and straightened a lot of broken things.

So this past year we talked about whether or not to sell the 560 and buy something else, because much of the money spent to refurbish is the same no matter what you're working on. In the end we decided to keep it as it does everything we need it to do. So this past fall, 2019 I cleaned it as good as I could and started painting.

Just rustoleum farm and implement for paint and a custom mix I came up with using industrial rustoleum for the 901. I painted over paint and certainly some gunk I couldn't get to. This is a working tractor and expect lots of scratches so figured easy touch ups would be better.

Still a load to do. I had to bush hog though and the 806 is apart for a few issues.

Makes me feel better about the excess of money I have and will likely spend on it.

Next year I plan on adding a turbo.

First pic is of when we bought it in 2013. Then of course the painting process and then completed. The last while I was  waiting for my wife to bring me more fuel (I got in too much of a hurry to get done).

Thanks! Still a lot to do, but I definitely feel better about the money we've spent on it the past few years. That front end that was on it originally, was cobbled from a Minneapolis Moline I figured out eventually. I could pull the center pin out of the old front end with my hand. Didn't realize it was in such bad shape. I ended up putting a wide front from a hydro 70 under it.

I think the next big step will be finding some new hydraulic valves or rebuilding the ones in it.

Looks good.  Amazing what a little cleanup and paint can do.  Makes a person feel better using it too.

Yes, it really does. And kicks me in the rear to fix all those things I've been letting slide.

I originally was just fixing some holes and dents in the tin, so I painted just those pieces. Then once I did that, I realized it would look very odd, so the quick weekend project grew. Maybe not a restoration but it does feel better using it.

Just curious was it an original INTERNATIONAL 560 like the hood emblem suggests ? I only know of one in my area , if so i would hang on to the original emblems or better yet reinstall them.

That style of tractor is the Farmall. It had the incorrect hood emblem on it.

Yeah, the poor tractor was rode hard and put away wet it looked like. The guy I bought it from had started setting it up for pulling I think. He had put a clutch, TA and a few other bits, but the rest of it was in rough shape, though it did run well. I hate to think of all the money I've spent on it since then, but at least now I feel less bad about it. :D

I've got the international emblems up on a shelf. I'm guessing from a 660? Nothing surprises me with this tractor anymore.

Could be off a 560 standard/wheatland.   They used the International badges.
