Black snakes were regular visitors in the farm house I grew up in.  Never knew when one was going to show up.  I remember dad shooting a couple of them with a 22 caliber revolver in the middle of the night.  What a way to be awakened!

Go out there and poke it out if it’s bothering you so badly. You put a warm bright light , like an incandescent bulb out there where it can get near it, on top of a ladder perhaps, it’ll come out and you can deal with it, they’re drawn to the warmth

Like the flames of a fire perhaps?

So, did I miss how the snake retrieval went???

I'm assuming you caught and released and that's why he is trying to hitch a ride back to his, um, your attic???

😲🐍😏😉😁

Snake was just trying to stop and ticket for driving on the wrong side of the road.

Dunno but nesting material is sticking out of the hole now.

Do snakes build nests?

Ever consider this a animal kingdom house swap?

Notice any woodpeckers stepping out of a hole in the ground?

Rodents build nests, and snakes eat rodents....

What species of snake is it?  Looks to be large enough to eat many small dogs and cats.  I say send the bale to Runner in Colorado for a backup target at his range.

My first thought as well however I was unsure if Diamondbacks were common in PA.  I do know rattlers get that large in Arkansas.  When I used to frequent Lake Dardanelle the rattlers crossing the road were large enough when you ran over them in a vehicle, you heard the thud.
