irondiesel…….at the risk of disrupting   the best tractor thread...……..All the Macks that came here were CKD from  Allentown  PA....RHD    of course......and none were burdened with those old 6 speed  boxes.....The pictured one was the last one I brought...18 sp   box...Very few on the road these days...…..That photo was taken  ……(gasp ) 39    years gone......

..only see the very occasional   Peterbuilt      , down under...….possibly imported from  Australia...RHD

I would have to put this one on the top of my list 👍😎 Danny

Here is the 3 favorites at the Dirt Boyz Proving Grounds , the 5388, 1086 and the 1066  Danny

The 88's are by far the classiest tractors ever made. That being said, I also really like the 14's in general and a restored black stripe is so good lookin' it hurts!

Well here she is folks , I put this together this spring in a few weeks after picking it up from my Case IH dealers salvage yard . It’s our new farm stock puller /3000 rpm class , it’s going to be labeled as a 1086 Red Power Special in memory of the one we had on the farm back in the day . I put a DT 466 in it , new TA for a 1586 /heavy duty pulling unit , along with fixing all the lights , tighten up the shifting all the small stuff it’s going in front  of the sand blaster today in prep for its new look 👍😎

I forgot to say that the 5486 ranks high with me.

I also like the nose art on this 6788.

I know I shouldn't hijack my own thread but.......I am sure you have all seen the peterbilt pontoon boat (It is the only good looking boat I have ever seen, my Dad makes boat covers so I have seen a lot of boats),..but has anyone seen someone take the front end off of a 4586 , 1586 or 5488 and put it on a peterbilt? I think it would look cool.

I think the 88 series red tractors are just bad to the bone. And gasp.....the long nose Deere’s like the 4440’s.

I would go along with this. I think today’s “modern” tractor designs look stupid in comparison, regardless of brand. I guess I’m just old school ‘06 thru 50’ (‘88) series. And the original Boxcar Magnum’s look good too.

The same  goes for a lot of cars and trucks these days. That new Chevy pickup, is it the 2500 series HD? Looks really stupid in the front end. I don’t know what kind of drugs the designers of that one are on.

But I just can’t get in to being turned on with these new tractors these days. The Golden Age of cool tractors, has come, and gone. Can you envision anyone restoring, or collecting , or showing any of these modern age tractors 20, 30, 40, or 50 years from now???? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha what a joke.

If we are going to throw highway tractors into the mix

As far as the 40’s went, I think the K-Series are hard to beat

As far as semi modern trucks, it’s a toss-up with the 4300 and 9370’s.  I think they both look best with day cabs or small flat-tops.   I am partial to the 9370’s as we had one.

I can’t say that a 359/379 Pete or a W900a Kenny isn’t the most “beautiful” classic truck style, but I think it’s partly the chrome jewellery.  These old IH’s looked great in work clothes.  The old 4300’s also took very well to those over-the-top wacky 70’s paint schemes.  I really think they are underrepresented in the antique truck world.
