2020 spring farming

Recommended Posts

1st picture is my Dad bringing the 1456 back from disking his field.  I had just finished spraying when he arrived and was backing the sprayer in with the 1086.

2nd is our 1951 G getting a workout spreading fertilizer. My 1st year farming what was my Grandpas farm and using his favorite tractor was really special.

No pics but I did a little work a month ago. It's been raining since.

I planted oats in march and sweet corn two weeks ago.

Thx-Ace

Bankin' tanks is not really farming per se but is the closest I get to scratchin dirt. Still feels good to get back out into the hills. 😃

Well atleast with the price of fuel you can afford to feed a G now................First pop on a G costs 50 cents, every one after that is a Quarter.

When do you find time to sleep? Or are you like me, get enough rest when I grab the dirt blanket.

I carry 500 gallons of 28% on the front of the tractor it handles it nice. I know it is a extremely overkill but you use what you got.

Are you nuts????

I'd rather crap in my hands and clap than listen to a 2 cylinder.

They are just jealous.......................they can't put two chrome stacks the same size on anything else and see their white teeth while smiling in both of them at the same time.

I could use a 2 cylinder all day.  I wish I had more implements for it to pull.

I’ve got 100 acres in so far. A couple more good days and I will have all my corn in then a couple weeks or so I’ll hammer in dry beans.  This is a first for me planting “green”

Little to wet yet, thinking a day or two of dry weather and we should be good to go. Some neighbors have started, but when the wife(city girl) drives by and says that looks wet, well it is probably to wet yet! Trying not to let last years experiences let me make bad decisions for this year.

No-tilling as much as possible this spring. Makes for a kind of boring planting season, not many pics to take. I did seed down a new waterway with one of my WD's and all crop drill, should have taken a pic but didn't.

I grew up on 2 cylinders and super m’s.  Spent a lot of time on a late John Deere A like your G. I am of the belief most any tractor is fun to drive.

I prefer the red ones in the field, although did like raking with a late putt putt with a float ride seat...........rode nice with it and the roll a matic.  Rather tractor pull with a green one, with the RPM's turned up it is like running a death trap.

Envious of anyone doing an appreciable amount of fieldwork.  Were sliding back into winter here this week..... Probably some records going to fall with record lows :(
