401 N Michigan
I’m looking at this 244, I’ve read up on them....but I can’t find how many 4x4 models were made. Is this rare? Also any where I can find serial number Info to find out what year it is? Does anyone know if parts are readily available?

IHhogfarmer
I just looked them up on tractordata and it said serial numbers are unknown. I’ve only seen pictures of them but have always thought they were cute little tractors.
401 N Michigan
I drove it , it was cool....not sure what I’d use it for....garden tiller, find a mower for it...
SaskM
I have a 234 Hydro with a 48" Woods belly mount deck. It is great little tractor. I use it for grass cutting and rototilling .... works well and is really easy on fuel. I always really liked the 50 Series styling that they used for these..still looks really good today. Case introduced the 235, 245, 255 in 1986 - same tractor just different tin work. They looked like the 85 utility series. Some parts are still available through Case-IH. The serial number breakdown for the 244 is as follows: 1982....8001 1983....8460 1984....9089 1985....9716
401 N Michigan
This one is gear trans....where did you find the serial numbers.....I can’t figure it out, I took pic of the plate here, I think the stamped ending numbers are 93777.....I’m not sure hard to read....is yours 4x4? Wondered if there is any way to know how many MFD were made ....
TN Hillbilly
A guy I work for years ago had one with a loader on it. He also had a tiller for it, and a little bushhog. It was a good little machine, and had not had an easy life. He later bought a Yanmar about the same size. I thought the IH was much better put together and more nimble. I have no idea how parts availability is. And I would think the 2wd would be the more rare configuration in that machine.

Matt Kirsch
Early '80s was not good for tractor sales, and compact tractors were not a thing yet, so pretty much any tractor from that era is rare. The downside to rarity is the lack of parts but that one looks nice. Always wanted one as a kid because it looked "kid sized" but now if it doesn't have a flat deck operator's platform, I want nothing to do with it. 401 N Michigan
My Local CaseIH dealership said no parts from Case IH.....anyone know where Mitsubishi parts would come from? What outlet would I contact for parts or overhaul kits or transmission repairs.? Is Mitsubishi have any tractors or dealers anywhere?
SaskM
Mine is a 2 wheel drive with turf tires all the way around. The serial number breakdown is from the Hotline Farm Equipment Guide. They are a great source for serial numbers, models, high/low prices, etc. What else is handy is that they have good info on combines, balers, planters and windrowers too. The one I have is from about 1990 and has info all the way back to the 1930's.

Those are the exact questions you should have when considering this tractor or any tractor. I did a quick search and there is a place called "Pitt Auto" which advertises itself as "Pitt Auto Electric Company is currently the ONLY factory authorized distributor of Mitsubishi Tractor replacement parts in the USA." Though you may still be out of luck on a low-production tractor that is pushing 40 years old.

You can always take the sheet metal off and make it to look like a 1066 or something else that you like.

nepoweshiekfarmalls
It almost looks like 9377x on the serial number tag. That would make it a 1984.

401 N Michigan
You were saying parts are non existent and you had no idea if they are or not...they are available....the engine parts are and most of the rest of it.....an option is one thing....there were 1800 of these ih branded tractors made so they are somewhat rare....but that in itself is not an option..it’s a reality, a fact...
