Bullit Mustang

Recommended Posts

I read this morning where Steve McQueens original mustang sold at Mecuum's Auction for 3.4 MILLION apparently it had sat in a barn in Kentucky since 1974. Family that owned it bought the car for 3500 bucks ,talk about return on investment.

Saw that too. I think it may have been driven a bit early on. I have read different articles about it over the years. Think it may have been owned by someone else or maybe a couple people between the movie and 1974? What i recall anyway. But i could ve wrong.

I've got a current magazine article about it. Seems a movie executive bought it after the movie. Then sold it. Sounded like Steve tried buying it several times over the years but never got it done. And I think it's fairly original with camera mounts etc still on it. Neat piece of movie history.

If he'd been in a Chevelle, that Mopar would have never even gotten close.

They pulled a plug wire off the mustang so it would be closer. 😇😏

The other car used in the movie has been found and is rebuilt. Apparently they had 2 mustangs the one that didn’t get wrecked got sold in car craft magazine ad. The wrecked one ended up in a Mexico junk yard.

Just watched a re-broadcast of Saturday's Mecum auction show. The Bullit Mustang jumped to 2-1/2 MILLION Dollars in about a minute.  It was not a pristine show car, lots of dents different places, but the 390 seemed to be in good shape, could maybe have used a tune-up.

Surprised me that Christine, a replica of the '58 Plymouth Fury that was possessed in Steven King's 1983 movie by the same name only got bid up to $275,000 and no sale.

Not if you compare back seats.

The car had sold each time before for $3500 prior to the auction.

My question is, when will the Joe Dirt Superbird go up? Cuz I'm a Ford fan, and still I'll rob my piggy bank for that one!
