guy with 42" rubber

Recommended Posts

Those who have 10 and or 1486 tractors with 18.4 42 insides, how do you solve the dual dilemma? We are considering switching the 10 from 38 to 42, but the duals appear to be an issue with our 9 bolt hubs, or 3.5" axles....

What to do?

Thatnks!

Alot of magnums dual rims out there to be had.  The best ten bolt hubs come from 4000 series 4wd.  Can't rember witch ones but 10,1486 u need the 3.5 inch axle sized hubs

Lots of 10 bolt hubs out there for 3 1/2 inch axles. All the short line guys made them, but the best are the IH double wedge lock hubs that were used on the 4586. Weren't many 86's new with 10 bolts, but they should have been standard. A nine bolt isn't enough hub on anything more than 18.4 x 38. We have the IH 10 bolts on all ours. You can find them at some bone yards, but they are usually pretty pricey. Bought all ours on auctions over the years. Part no. ends in 007, those are the ones to fit the 3 1/2 inch axles.

18 x 42 on my insides and just kept my 20 x 38 duals, probly 25yrs like that and they seem ok.  Even if you have 18 x 38 duals just find a used pair of 20s and mount them, unless you want new

I knew that kinda thread head would get some attention, but dang! You guys are entertaining atleast lol.

I figured we would need 10" hubs but they seem difficult to find for 3.5" axles...

Thanks y'all, for the info and laughs!

Harder to find 3 1/4" 10 bolt . 3 1/2 was used on the 5088 and the 1086 and all 14-56,66,68, and 86 , 4586 and 4568

I had no idea they were used on all those tractors. Thanks! Would they a spec item or just on tractors with 20.8s?
