Engine for 1975 1800

Recommended Posts

Have 75 or 76 1800 with 446.  Started popping and chugging.  Investigation shows bad cam.  Is there another motor besides 446 or 404 that is an easy swap?

Best off with a  392, Like The guy said above. I have seen a bunch of Loadstars with IDI 7.3 Diesels.

Personally I would install a V345 and never look back, would be a stock installation prior to 1975.   With a doghouse I can see a DT466 or Cummins C but many $$$ and time.

It was 1967806 who had an 1800 with a 427 Chevy, but the swap was already done when he bought it.

Chrysler sold "Drop in"kits to put 318's and 413's in just about anything. Personally I would find another 446 or rebuild the one in the truck. Parts are hard to find, but they are out there.
