I'm taking my 12 year old granddaughter out for her first hunt. Be moving to the stand in about 40 minutes.

About 10 years ago Missouri started a youth season , probably one of the best things that they have done. I have more fun now taking kids hunting than i do hunting myself.

I’ve seen 3 walking the pasture this morning.  Saw a decent one last night at about 550yds. Our gun season doesn’t come in for another two weeks.

I was to a spot this morning I have left alone so far this year . I only went there because of the wind direction. I had three bucks go within range . The 9 point gave me plenty of opportunities but I am saving my tag for a more mature buck. They are definitely chasing. After getting 250 yards away from me he was chasing a doe back and forth on the other side of the scrub ground I was hunting. I will add his picture taken today later once I get back to better service area .

Good luck everyone. We have until next Saturday for archery

Granddaughter got a shot at a little buck this morning but missed. Buck fever I think. Saw 2 doe but they were in heavy brush. So we'll be back out in the morning.

I was at the wrong place today midday ........ Of course the wind might have been wrong thought but I wish I had been there.

The rut makes them so unpredictable and vulnerable at the same time. The buck my brother got he saw with a doe this morning.

Well deer hunting was getting boring for my son after not seeing anything this morning.   He didn’t want to really go out tonight but talked him into it.   Age 11 first deer! Thought he was going to hyper ventilate after he shot he was so excited.   He is hooked now!

Found this one while combining beans. Think I saw him running around this summer. Was a big mess to clean up, didn't want a flat tire!

likely blue tongue - we lost thousands to it in 2012 and 2015 around here - so sad my cousin found hundreds of them combining those years in the river bottoms when combining fields

I haven't heard about blue-tongue in this area though it is definitely possible.

Here is one of the deer my brother and I are after.

That is standing in my soybean food plot.

Second pic is one we have looked for for 3-4 years. He got injured early in velvet. With all the corn still in the fields I haven’t seen him on the hoof yet. Have both sheds from 2017 and one side from 2018.
