1990 Ford F-150 amp help

Recommended Posts

So I have a 1990 Ford F-150 and I put a f-350 alternator in I was wondering if there’s someway I can lower the amps going out into my battery but still be enough to charge and run my sound system.

I am no expert, but in my day, we always tried to get new alternators of higher amperage. If your battery isn't down alot, it won't give it alot. Depending on your sound system, I had one that was on a dedicated battery, and the base eats power, sooo, you should have no problems. Matter of fact. You'll be happy for the upgraded alt.

SON put BIG stereos on his first car and his first pickup. He stayed with the factory alternator on the first car but on the Pickup, '93 F-150 Lightning, he started the install by putting a 210 amp alternator on.  BIG Interstate battery too.

The first stereo was my favorite,  it would rattle the aluminum siding on the house when the car was INSIDE the shop 100 ft away from the house.
