Loader for a 986

Westendorf wl42 is pretty hard to beat.  You can even get one with hydraulic bucket attachment so you don't have to get out of the cab to change buckets.

I have a wl42 and ih 2450 (like a 2350 but taller ). Both are nice loaders. The westendorf is still in production so stuff is more available but you have to remove the front weight bracket to install the loader. This causes me problems occasionally. Thx-Ace

The 2450 has a max lift height of 16 feet 1 inch. The 2350 has a max lift height of 12 feet. Otherwise they are the same.

Visibility is a little better with a 2350 over a 2450, lower posts out window, and if young or inexperienced operators are used a 2350 offers more stability due to lower lift height. But they are out of your specifications since you want a new loader anyway.  I have both and they are nice loaders though

We got a 2350 on our 1486 and hydro 100. Excellent loaders, except the 14 dualed up and weighted down is a bit too much power. But at least a 2350 has some meat on it to weld lol. Up here Leon and Buhler Allied loaders are very popular and seem to be well built. I believe both are still in production

Now I want a 2350

Shame you dont live closer. I've got a good one. I really like the 2350. It goes on and off very easy. I like to remove mine when doing field work. When it only takes 30 seconds it's worth it. You should be able to find a decent 2350 around 3-4k easily. A new one is probably 8-10k guessing. So depends what you want I guess.

FYI, Westendorf had a WL-44 that was a taller version of the WL-42.  Dad bought one in the 70's that we had on our 1066, beat the **** out of it for 30 years feeding cattle.  In all that time we replaced one pivot pin--and that was cause I did something stupid, like ramming into a huge buried rock trying to move it.  Didn't damage the frame of the loader at all.
